IT SUCKS!

...hard. Don't watch it. It tries to be deep, offbeat, with a message, but it tries too hard and it shows. It is a movie that is too much in love with itself.
It has nothing in common with the reality of marketing and advertising, so if you are professionaly interested you will be dissapointed too.

The lead actor is simply awful as well.

yes it is all very very bad, absolutely nothing was well done - i suppose this is a typical "I am so pissed off at this - and I'm gonna let it out on absolutely everything, without giving any firsthand critique" - but you are entitled to your opinion of course! - it's just too bad that you only point your finger on everything and say: bad, bad, bad - that's simply not constructive!
but from your statement I suppose that you work in publishing and therefore feel personally attacked - it would be nice if you could share with us, what exactly was so wrong --- keeping in mind that no two characters in the world are alike, and things also might be different in other cultures... commercials do cost a lot of money, and are mostly full of crap, no? it's all just sell sell sell, or not?
and i do think that a lot of creatives in advertising have to jump over their shadows and let their morals aside - at least judging from the output you see on tv every day... if not, they are - well - they are not exactly human; enjoying all the exploitment - my opinion (there are however, very very few really good commercials! unfortunately something very rare!!)

the movie is exaggerated though! - but i think it doesn't try to hide that fact, does it (cartoon, and merryhappy scenes, also scenes that are clearly graphically faked)? it kinda comes along with the subject matter, no?

Well I loved it, because I was disgusted, and annoyed, and amused, and shocked and disgusted again... I've never seen this kind of movie before... so yeah - thats my opinion..
and what exactly was so bad about the lead actor? - I thought he was terrific!

oh yeah - and since you've stated that it has nothing to do with the reality of advertising: Frédéric Beigbeder, the writer of the novel on which the movie is based, worked in advertising for ten years before writing about it. He also plays the alter ego of the main character in the movie - somehow looks a tiny bit autobiographical, doesn't it?

yeah dude it like totally blows

OK, I can swallow the lead actor comment. I liked him, but that is the only thing that could be improved.

It has nothing in common with the reality of marketing and advertising
This is just plain stupid sentence. I worked in the marketing for more then 10 years and I know people with more then 30 years (with pretty much the same job as the lead in the film). I don't know how your reality looks, but this film gets it quite well (better then any other I've seen).
And I think the person above me said it right: the OP probably works in the marketing so he/she felt personally attacked.

Wow man, I can't disagree more with you. Of course not all advertising agencies look the same but most of them look this way, and I can't really find a major problem with the leading actor.
