Where was "Only With You" to be placed?

The "Only With You" sequence was filmed, but unused in the final film. Here's photographic evidence (http://thefilmstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Nine-590x407.jpg)- with multiple assurances from Rob Marshall, Maury Yeston et al in early 2010 that it would appear on the DVD of NINE. It has yet to see the light of day.

But where do you think it would have been placed in the film?

Perhaps, the scene before Nicole Kidman's character kisses the picture from the Cardinal? I don't think it would quite work after "My Husband Makes Movies", and it seems unrealistic that it could appear before "A Call From the Vatican".

By the way, was it true that "Be On Your Own" and "Simple" (reworked as a duet between Kidman and Cruz?) was part of the shooting script? Actually, if anyone has a script other than the one issued for awards consideration in November 2009, I would be most grateful to read it! I'd love to have seen the direction Michael Tolkin took the script in, before the late Anthony Minghella came on board.

I saw the stage version three times, once with Raul Julia, once with Antonio Bandereas, and once with Blackie Parrish, oops I mean John Stamos. When I saw the movie with an audience of theater professionals, I was surprised by how stoik many of them were. The musical on stage to me was a celebration of life, and the film (not a movie) had me in tears in spots. I'm an easy audience to a degree, and that first closeup on Sophia had me shaking. Judi didn't do it for me. She was no Lilianna Montivechi, Chita Rivera or Eartha Kitt. Chita would have just been perfect, but that's what you get in Hollywood for being the nicest lady around, nothing. Unusual Way, the prettiest sing, died on screen. Daniel was sensational, but like the Tony Awards presentation introduced him, smart for Antonio turning it down.

"Great theater makes you smile. Outstanding theater may make you weep."
