characters who just disappeared?

I'm guessing that they didn't know the show was going to get cancelled and that they were planning on bringing some of them back at one point or another, but they inadvertently ended the story lines of his ex-wife, his lawyer, the girl (Rachael), and Jack Reese without any resolution. With Jack Reese, they had Roman tell Dani that he killed her father (without much reaction from her over it), but they had probably already heard about being cancelled and were just trying to wrap everything up as best they could under the circumstances.

It was one of the best cop shows ever created with an interesting premise to start. 10-15yrs ago, a show such as this would been allowed to survive and cultivate a following, but those days are long gone and NBC which has made mistake after mistake under the new rules of tv, failed their viewers again with the cancellation.

Yes, I agree--Life was a great crime procedural with multiple interesting subplots, fascinating and complex characters, and a gripping overall plot that tied many of the subplots and characters together. I know networks are under pressure to find shows that are successful from the outset, but NBC has also allowed some shows with mediocre ratings to develop, most notably The Good Wife and Grimm. Especially since Life had drawn favorable reviews, NBC should have at least given the show a 3rd season to develop. Based on reviews on the Amazon site for the Life DVDs, DVD sales appear to be healthy, suggesting the audience for Life has good potential to grow.

As I mentioned in another post, I wish a cable (USA, Showtime) or streaming (Netflix, Amazon) network would revive Life for a new season and see what its audience is. Damien Lewis could work on the show around his schedule for Billions and Sarah Shahi could have time given the expectation that Person of Interest's upcoming 13-episode season will be its series finale. I think Donal Logue, Brent Sexton, and Adam Arkin also would have time given their TV roles are primarily as guest stars.
