So i like looking at controversial things & had to watch this film. Very disturbing. like one of the most disturbing and sickening things i have ever seen in my entire life. a horse having sexual intercourse with a human being? Then a human being dying as a result? I can see some people are actually defending this way of life over here in this board. You have got to be a really mentally socially retarded and disturbed individual to participate and defend this kind of behavior. Any man (or woman) who participates in this behavior should be forced to be castrated. I really don't care if i hurt anyone's feelings by saying that either. I know people participate in all kinds of weird sexual behavior but this.... it's just beyond wrong. Go get castrated if you have such urges. That is just so unbelievably nasty and horrible. i mean how can anyone condone having anal sex with a horse or any other animal for that matter? Some people are just so screwed UP in the head. If saying that makes me closed minded and ignorant then that's what I am because that is not a way to behave in any kind of society.

gggim25 I am totally for two consenting adults engaging in sexual behavior. Whether the person is straight or gay. But when a person is sexual attracted to children (pedophilia) or in this case animals that in no way should be tolerated or accepted and anyone with this mental deficiency... and yeah you are mentally deficient if you want a horse's penis up your rear for sexual gratification or if you want to get off on child porn, then for gods sakes kill your deformed and screwed up sex urges get castrated! It's disgusting! and it's not a natural thing to do. Different species are not made to do that! Human bodies are made for other human bodies, horse penises are meant for a horse vagina not a man's rear end! i mean how retarded and stupid are people in this world? there has to be something seriously wrong with people that think this is OK. The same thing goes for pedophilia. It makes me sick and these people are retarded and deformed in the brain if they "naturally" are like this and act on it because ANYONE who has this problem should be locked up castrated and given brain surgery to remove the part of the brain that makes them this way. What is just as disturbing is people are actually defending this way of life! Just like some the sick in the head pedophiles defend pedophilia. It's not NORMAL or NATURAL to participate in this behavior and we should have laws that say anyone caught should be castrated and put in mental institutions. It's a serious mental problem and this movie is proof that someone can die from doing such a disgusting thing.

starrjean, some of your arguments were/are used to condemn homosexual behaviour (it is still mainly condemned for religious arguments, "go forth" etc.) … And sex with children was/is in some cultures not regarded as something weird or bad.

I do not think having sex with anyone who is on another level as you are is OK (animals, children mentally ill), just trying to make clear that moral changes over time. As do taboos.

As long no one is seriously hurt and everyone involved is doing it voluntary and is able to judge for him/herself that he/she is fine with it, and everyone involved respects everyone's limits , it's not up to outsiders to condemn it based on their moral and their moral only.

What happened to Mr. Hands is tragic. And of course stupid, as an adult with knowledge of these kind of things he could have guessed that it may be a serious health risk. I have no idea whether the horse was hurt in the process, it's not even mentioned in Zoo (but the poor stallion get castrated, a really animal friendly procedure…), but for the guys sake alone, he should not have done it.

BrideOfTheAtom, do you think the point of filming the castration was to make the viewers think about the things we do to animals that they don't give consent to, any more than they can give consent to sex with a human? Which doesn't excuse or rationalize zoophilia, it just was a question in my mind after I saw this film.

dvalley, I think the point of showing the castration is that it points out the different interpretations of animal love. Both zoophiles and vetenarians showed their love and consideration through submitting the animals to what they believed was the best for the animal.

In my opinion, the zoophiles weren't worse than than others. At least they admit that animals have sexual feelings too. The vetenarians tried to ban it out by castrating the stud.

Another point is made by the horse handler. In the beginning of Zoo she tells about a very sad period in her life where she sought and found (non physical) unconditional love with her horses. In a sense, the zoophiles did the same. They were lonely, misunderstood men who longed for love. The nonjudgmental animals gave them what they longed for. Well, thát and a bit more.

So, what's the point of Zoo? It is not a question of right and wrong, it's up to the viewer to reconsider his/her opinion and find out whether that opinion is the only right there is..

The only reason the stallion was castrated was that it had killed a man who had manipulated its sexual arousal, so that the horse would never be in a position to kill anyone again in a similar event, because it couldn't become sexually aroused again. If it had been a dog, it might have been put to sleep. But horses are too expensive.

Honour thy parents. They were hip to the groove too once you know.

I find it hard to believe that a pervert who screws horses can find other perverts that screw horses. Is there like a club handshake or something? I don't know (and I don't care) if the horse liked it or not, just keep perverts like that away from the cows, pigs, and chickens. BTW...how's your eggs?

Yeah, it's just sad to see that people, without knowing the term "zoophilia", compare it to pedophilia and even necrophilia. These openminded people as they call themselves should realy try to open their mind and learn something about the subjet before turning all red and yelling out some mindless insults.

PS: to clear my views, I think rape is wrong, consentual things are ok.

The thing that gets me is what do these people think is going to happen if a guy wants to get sodomized by a horse? Putting the consent debate aside, things like this are, or should be at least, illegal because it is dangerous. If you want to have sex with a horse then you are in a serious situation where it is very likely you will get trampled, or like this guy you get your insides all torn up and die a very painful and disgusting death. That alone is reason for this to be illegal, because these people are a danger to themselves, and others because someone had to help them after all.

Zoophilia and pedophilia ARE the same thing, because BOTH make an OBJECT out of the sexual turn-on, in one case it's an animal and in the other case it's a child. They are both objectifying a living thing, which is wrong. Period. And the only way people who are advocates of zoophilia or pedophilia could begin to understand that is if they were objectified themselves, and someone took them and used them as a sexual plaything whenever they felt like it, whether they wanted to participate or not. It doesn't MATTER how much they "take care of" the animal or how nicely they treat it, it is still a captive creature they USE for their own personal sexual gratification. Just because the horse "gets off" doesn't make it OK, and in other cases, the animals do not necessarily get off. Even if you treat the animal like a prince and feed and groom it better than you take care of yourself (just like the backwoods hick in the movie points out repeatedly, trying to justify his actions), that doesn't mean the animal is happy or it's any less animal abuse. Unless the animal can talk, there's no way to know what is going on in their minds, and there is no way one can get consent.

Oh big DEAL. Most horses get gelded, and unless they're a racehorse or they're a stud being kept around specifically for breeding, the horse HAS to be gelded so it doesn't go bananas every time a mare is in heat in the same stable. An ungelded stallion is difficult to control and can be very unpredictable, and most are gelded and never even know anything happened to them. These aren't stallions in the wild who need to fight each other for a herd of mares, so there's no need for the horse to be kept in a stall, sexually frustrated; it's better for the horse in the end, and it's much calmer and happier that way. It's not like some tragic thing that happened to ONLY this horse, and as you could see, the horse was much more calm and controlled afterward. If you think the procedure looked "not animal-friendly," then you have never seen a human being having a surgical procedure, I take it. Just because the horse was hanging upside down by its feet didn't hurt it any, and it had to be like that in order for the weight of its own body to not crush its lungs and keep the airway open. Horses generally do not lay down so there's no other way to perform a surgical procedure like that. For your sake I hope you never have to experience any surgical procedure yourself...you'll find out what's "human friendly" quick...

Oh man talk about controversy.

First you object to zoophiles who objectify the animal and have sex with them. Then you say it's ok to cut of the balls of the horse, it's no big deal, they are not smart enough to understand what happened to them anyways...you care about horse's rights when they copulate with humans and get off in the process, but toss those same right out of the window when it comes to actually hurting and mutilating them.

You, sir, should not preach about the wrongness of zoophilia.
