Teacher speech and classroom scenes were horrible

Only 5 minutes in and the exposition is horrible. The news broadcast was dreadfully amateur and the classroom teacher was embarrassing. I watched this when it first came out and I liked it a lot, but now I'm re-watching it, and I'm instantly turned off by Smith's lack of any realistic or natural sounding dialogue

I enjoyed the movie despite its flaws and was surprised it was by Kevin Smith. The overall look, direction, pacing and dialogue were very straight-to-download. The debrief between Goodman and the 2 FBI guys looked like a rehearsal. Kevin Pollak was wasted (he does a great Christopher Walken impression btw - tho' not in this movie), Goodman looked ill, but Michael parks was great. I thought the pastor was played by Robert Patrick until I saw the credits.

The classroom was hilarious, not really in a good way. I laughed hard when the teacher called her student gay, but my laughter was more in a "wtf did she just say?" and less than a "hahaha that was funny!" way. It was so strange and off-putting, and even moreso when she kept talking!

It was horrible, but unfortunately realistic of american education system.
