Smith tihnks he's controversial for making an Anti Christian Right Film?

LOL

Gotta love hollywood. Robots programmed to think they're not robots.

Smith thinks he is so controversial for making movies bashing Christians and Republicans. Meanwhile, if he bashed liberals or even... God forbid... Muslims, that would be real controversy.

Smith himself is a devout Catholic. He's not bashing religion, he's satirizing extremists, who definitely deserve it.
His other religious movie Dogma is a loving satire, joking about the crazier parts of religion. The dude is just making *beep* that he enjoys, I wouldn't bother looking too much into any of it.
This coming from an atheist.

reply

Well religion sucks dick big time, i am an atheist too and loved how he was exposing on some reasons why religion is toxic.

F *** the law, i want meat-Nightbreed

reply

Disagreed.

Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism are peaceful religions.

Yes there are immensely violent verses in the Bible... but luckily for you and me, most Christians and Jews ignore that *beep* The fact that they are pick-and-choose heretics is a good thing for the rest of the world and it's exactly what makes them peaceful religions.

reply

You can't deny that many, if not most, while not violent are extremely disrespectful to others they deem unholy like gay people. Hypocritical as well as you can go into most churches and most would've been gleefully having sex outside of marriage.

Christianity has a long history of violence, and today is still being used as an excuse for violence, and Israel is at war right now over holy land. As for Buddhism, well... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-26452892

Me? I aim to misbehave.

You cannot blame Buddhism for what individuals do.. The holy teachings of all religions condone killing or mutilation etc. in some form or another. Buddhism whilst not actually being a religion has no such teachings of justifications. One can easily find justification for killing in the Bible, Koran, Tanakh etc. .. this CANNOT be found in the Buddhist teachings or scriptures.

The only peaceful one listed is Buddhism and it isn't actually a religion. All the others have violent and horrific histories.

reply

I fear you might have a strong misconception about what constitutes as a religion.

Christian prayer beads and prayer meditation came through the Silk Road, even the ones risking life introducing silkworms to Europe were Buddhist monks.

Sure, we are not a religion, just the fourth largest one, with numerous places of worship, rituals, various factions (I'm a Zen Buddhist), the faith has its own version of its heaven and hell, it has samsara and reincarnation, but other than that, totally not a religion, and there totally wasn't a Sri Lankan woman, who claimed after a typhoon, that her house was spared (unlike the ones of a Christian and a Muslim) because she prayed to Buddha. Theraveda Buddhists absolutely don't view Buddha as a god, and the Dalai Lama never said it's a wrong practice. It's not customary for Buddhist males to serve a year as a monk, Thai monks totally don't buy pictures of brutally murdered women to not think about sex, and Cambodian monks so not rape monks in training, and treat them as ladyboys, nothing of the sort.

Yes, we too have our crazy, that's what you got right, but mistaking Buddhist philosophy or meditation for the whole thing is highly misleading. Yes, we don't have verses invoking or condoning violence, but Early Buddhism, including the founder wasn't kind to women. He thought being born as a woman meant a reincarnation of a previous sinful life, out of which there was no escape. He set up 7 types of wives, out of which he felt only 4 to be acceptable, which had in common a subservience to their husband.

On the bright side, people in Myanmar think about Christianity as you do about Buddhism, a small significance. It still would be worthy to know more, but that's up to the individual.

I live in the Gordius Apartment Complex, my interior designer was M.C. Esher.

Christianity and Judaism has conquered so much places that Islam is the only thing that got them beat. Hindus have been at war with Islamists (and loosing) for over 600 years. And i mean literal, slaughter the disbelievers, make warrior monk monasteries type of war. Buddhists Are for the most part peaceful but notice how they are also the only ones who dont actually have a belief in higher being?

reply

Being an atheist, I'm sure you refuse your holiday pay for Christmas.

reply

Not to mention the holidays off.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

Yawn.

reply

Smith is hardly a 'devout' Catholic. He was raised by catholic parents.

reply

Smith and his daughter go to church without his wife. She's not practicing, and yet he still goes. That's pretty close to being devout.

The satire in this film isn't about the Christian Right. It's based on the Westboro "Baptist" church. Those guys aren't Christian, no Baptist, and not normal human beings. Kevin isn't bashing any real religions with this film, he's brining to light a group of people who call themselves religious to further their sick agenda.

Signed, Me.

Fact is that virtually all mass shooters and psychopaths are atheistic libs. Stalin and Hitler hated God. Hollywood is a joke.

reply

If you actually look at a real nazi uniform. You will see that they have a cross on their belt buckle. He also said his soldiers were gods army. So no, christianity is not more peaceful than any other religion. Every religion has been used as an excuse to hate, discriminate, ostracise and kill. Even Buddhists in Myanmar are currently killing people. So engage your brain, do a little research and get your facts straight before you start spouting your holier than thou *beep* All religions can be used for good. All religions have been used for evil. Me, i think every religion are fantastical fairy stories used to control the masses

reply

Even Buddhists in Myanmar are currently killing people.

These people might call themselves Buddhists but they are in fact not real Buddhists and are definitely not following the teachings of Buddhism. Buddhism is not actually a religion either.

reply

Correction: Buddhist in myanmar are currently defending themselves against the invasion and occupasion of the islamic attackers.

reply

Also, alot of the mass shootings around the world (especially America and the middle east) are done by religious fundamentalists. Usually of the Christian or Muslim faith

reply

LOL! Show me the number of Christians going on murder sprees! Fact is that the greatest mass murderers were and are atheists. Hitler and Stalin come to mind but also the VA shooter or the guy shooting the kindergarten kids.

reply

Agreed.

and now you can add the Oregon shooter to you list who sought out victims that were Christian.

The Understanding One

reply

99.7% of terrorist acts are done by Muslims (mostly against other muslims, for religiuos reasons).

reply

The cult in this film are Christians. How bad have Christians gotten?

reply

Yes it's nothing but anti-red state propaganda. First they show the message : extremists kill "sinners" and we STOP THEM, so we're the good guys but it's just territorial info wars. The blue states are "more evolved" and hate the red states who are backward.

But the truth is blue are sophisticated theives, and red are hard working, independant people.

They're jealous and obviously also greedy, they try to put them down. Lets hope the reds (majoritairily german immigrants) win this battle. I hope they seceed even...

Oh what a day. What a lovely day!
