Such an awful movie.

Wow, 1st post on here. Well let me the first to say how bad this movie is and how horribly the marketing of this movie is. First of all it caught my attention at the DVD store because there's a big picture of Tony Jaa on it and a great Ong Bak promo shot at the back. So i buy it only later to find out that Tony is in the movie for about 10-15 minutes! How many other people got duped into buying this because they thought it was a Tony Jaa movie?

First there was zero story, seriously. Even 'The Protector' had more story that this one! It was cheesy to the bone and really laughable. The fight scenes were okay for a 14 year old low budget movie but really not that good when compared to other stuff!

And the second disc is as bad the movie itself. The special features are really awful. There's a featurette about Tony Jaa in Manhattan promoting Ong Bak, and it was shot by someone who was clearly drunk because the camera kept shaking and turning. Another special feature is Tony Jaa at some festival in Thailand...with NO SUBTITLES! It lasts around 20-30 minutes of Thai stuff...pretty stupid for north americans! Also there's this really bad Muay Thai video for about 10 minutes, with about another 15 minutes of a black screen with thai people talking in the backround..

Really if you're thinking of buying this thing, DON'T! Thank god it was only 15$!

I almost completely second your opinion...the movie was GOD AWFUL...however, when you watch the movie in English with English subtitles, the movie is priceless! The dubbing is maybe the worst I've ever seen. Was it the movie that I hoped it would be? Not a chance. Was it a great martial arts movie? Nope. Was it damn funny...hells yeah! My advice, if you got money to throw away, sure, pick it up...have a few drinks when you watch it with buddies. However, if you are contemplating picking up a movie because of Tony Jaa....pass this one up.

Could not agree more, movie was just god awful
I rented it from netflix and i honest to god thought I had gotten the wrong movie,
I was promised Tony Jaa god damn it, and i didn't even recognizes him

reply

Same thing happened here. I got duped thinking Tony jaa was in it and rented it, but when i saw i just couldn't believe my eyes. This is easily the WORST movie I've ever seen! Crap special effects, a nonsensical story, and actors from a high school drama class made this into the tragedy it is. 15 minutes of Tony Jaa is not worth getting this steaming pile of turd. I want my $5 bucks back!

I just watched until Tony got beat down, and turned it off...comparing this to Ong-Bak is like comparing the live action Street Fighter (Van Damme, not Chiba!) to Enter The Dragon. Plus Tony did zero Muay Thai in this one, just TKD and sword fighting.

Halloween remake too violent for you? That's a shame. Go review the Bratz movie instead.

Oh crap! I just bought it today for $10 from Best Buy, and thought I'd take a peek here in the forum before I watched it. No posts with titles like "Yeaaah! Awesome Thai Fighting!" etc. Yea, I saw the cover with TJ on the cover and thought it would be something great - duped once again by the great american marketing machine, sticking Tony's picture on the cover like that. Jeez! Well, I guess I'll watch it anyway tomorrow night, and hope for at least a few enjoyable fight scenes.

reply

Ok, I finally watched it. Yep, it was only so-so. The fighting scenes were actually pretty good, but the cinematography was low-budget. But I agree I was duped by the DVD cover into thinking that this would be primarly a TJ movie, on par with Ong-Bak and Tom-Yum-Goong.

One of the extras on the second disk was kind of cook, however. Tony Jaa in Manhattan. The video looked as if it was filmed on a cell phone, however it showed him doing some smart moves at the front of the theater.

reply

Damn, i fell for it to then, i saw Jaa on the cover and it said from the team that bought you Ong-Bak and Tom-Yum-Gong.

Well i will watch it tonight and come back here and give you my opinion, and i don't think its going to be pretty, didn't cost much so i'm not to bothered, but the false adverting is slightly annoying, I'm one who loves to watch awful films anyway so it could be a gem in that state.

reply

wow...i guess this happened to a bunch of people...i just bought it from wal-mart for 10 bucks fully knowing that it could be total crap...i got because im such a Tony Jaa freak...but now i see he's only in it for 15 minutes...just great. cant wait to watch it!! *sarcasm*

reply

This is why I rent first buy later.

Who says violence is not the answer?

reply

Rather enjoyed it myself as an unintentionally hilarious crap-fest. The fight scenes were quite well done for a zero budget film. Don't think I'd ever watch it again, but I've seen much much worse...
