Way wrong !!

What they got wrong with this film is that even the drugs didn't make them feel better. Opiates are the devil incarnate when abused and will eventually make the user wish they were dead. But the reason people abuse them in the first place is because they make the depressed person feel great. It was as if they were injecting water just for the hell of it. Even sex looked miserable. At least in 'Train Spotting' they got this part right - once high, these kids would have had some fun. Throughout this film they are shown as depressed, sad, emotionless. After one is dependent of course, things would get miserable as the daily injections would be needed just to make them feel 'normal'.
Yes, I know, casual sex and repetitive drug abuse = a hollow existence, eventually. But these were kids. Getting high and orgasms are the escape for them. I find it hard to believe not one kid would get a smile on his/her face when a particularly good batch of dope was scored or when a curl your toes orgasm was experienced ... why bother pursuing either if not satisfying in some way ? We repeat the things we enjoy - thats why they 'used'. This movie missed the boat completely on this fact and therefore was not an accurate portrayal of their lives in rural small town UK or any other country.
