my review on this movie...some spoilers

its too rushed, they could of done better wihtout the opening scene and kept everything more of mystery and then his mother or sister could explain it later, similar to Nightmare on elm street.

The opening could of been the kid (victim one) walking to that lake alone, having him spit into the river when he is on the bridge and hearing something, then a jump scare, its alex who helps the blind kid there also. Then the jock explains all the stuff about the ripper. This could allow the viewer to leave everything to their imagination which i find scarier, in NOES they left the Freddy killing those little kids to the imagination just by hearing Marge explain everything.

The kids were killed off too quickly in a jump scare, they could have stretched it out longer, and had more suspenseful chase scenes instead of the pop out gore kills they have, which were not scary. Especially the first death, they could have had the first kid running in the woods for a scary chase scene. The acting by Max Theriot was okay for a scared kid but i wish he had more stregnth in his voice by the climax. But he could have done better when Alex confesses, this is my opinion.

The mom's death was just rushed too, i felt like they were running out of film and had to throw everything in the last 20 minutes, they could have had the police officer tell bug everything how he was the son of the ripper instead having the sister do it because it felt too early to reveal stuff like that, if they never had the opening shot and tell bug all of it at the end maybe it would turn out he could of been the killer, or maybe his mother could have been for a twist, i know craven loves twists but the way they pieced together that alex was the killer was just corny.

This movie had a cool story and it could have been executed better, not Craven's best directing but it kinda had a NOES feel to it. overall 4/10
