No soundtrack cd?

I really liked this movie, and equally liked the music in the film. I've tried looking on the net but can't seem to find a soundtrack album. Was one even released?

reply

According to Malcolm Hirst, the Sound Recordist, one was not released.

Originally the script didn't require any music but was added later because the actors liked to sing in between shoots. This singing was then recorded and then subsequently added to the soundtrack.

That's a shame that one wasn't released. I may try and track some of the songs down individually on iTunes or something. Thanks for the info anyway.

When the group are going to pick apples, on the minivan a song is played, fairly well known by the Chinese and I am embarrased that I don't actually know the name even though I have heard it quite a few times before.

Does anyone have the name?

reply

Do you mean this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE-HlEG9m7I

It's Tian Mi Mi (甜蜜蜜) by Teresa Teng (邓丽君)

reply

I watched this again last night this time with my chinese partner. Although she is cantonese not mandarin, she knew well the songs that they sang. The song ai qin sings at the beginning when she is on the top of the van and then cuts to her on the bike roughly translates as 'you are lucky to have a mum because she treats you like a treasure'.
