Re-booting Time Warner's cable box is always a good idea. I had trouble for many months before they upgraded their system about 3 months ago.
I called once to complain that one of my cable boxes was automatically rebooting itself nearly every night between 2AM-5AM. I'd be in the middle of watching something and there was the cable box going off!
The first tech guy asked me if I had "Inadvertently set the timer." I told him, "I had no idea I could set my cable box on timer, so my answer to you is, NO."
The second time I called to complain, I was told, "It sounds like you need to return the box. As you know we can't deliver you a new cable box, you have to bring it in yourself." For what this monopoly is charging the public to watch TV, the least then can do is have a service person bring in and install a new box.
The third time, yet another tech person told me, "TW usually does upgrades very late at night, that could be affecting your reception."
