It Worked With Pirates Of The Caribbean

I do know that Jungle Cruise is based on a ride at the Disney parks just like Pirates Of The Caribbean is. I just saw Jungle Cruise today and I really liked it. I do think that it has the potential to be just as successful as the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise if they make sequels.

I also enjoyed it. I don't know that it will reach the level of PoTC franchise, but it worked for me.

reply

It is on pace to lose money, so I doubt there will be a sequel.

reply

Why is that? We know just how successful the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is.

reply

“The Rock” is not Johnny Depp.

reply

Depp couldn't save The Lone Ranger (which was underrated, really.)

reply

Pirates of the Caribbean was an ensemble cast with a whole bunch of A-listers and a fun, adventuruous script especially for the first movie. Although it was 2 hours and 23 minutes it never felt like it was too slow or badly paced.
Jungle cruise on the other hand. Oh boyyyyyy.
2 hour movie felt like 4, I could barely get thru this pile of garbage. Kept falling asleep.
Jesse Plemons presence alone is worth 1000 fucking sins.

Agree, but I think Depp was the best part of The Lone Ranger (which I generally enjoyed).

Depp created a living character in Capt. Jack Sparrow. I like Depp, but let’s leave all his other work aside, because we’re talking about THIS movie and THIS actor. He created a character so popular and iconic it kept this franchise running for longer than it should have. Maybe it was Lightning in a bottle, but it happened. Dwayne Johnson will never be able to do the same thing. He doesn’t even try to. He isn’t hired to. He isn’t asked to. My point to the OP is that the 2 Disney ride movies can’t be compared because there’s more at work here than the similar source material. I thought that was evident. Apparently not.

reply

No, Dwayne Johnson is not Johnny Depp but he is a really good actor nonetheless.

reply

Johnny Depp is a good actor and can peform many roles.

The Rock plays the Rock

reply

To be fair, the Jack character here is the female lead. Not the rock.

reply

Johnny Depp was "box office posion" before POTC.

reply

Pirates of the Caribbean was one of the best rides that's why. Jungle cruise was one of the lamest maybe that's why the movie is kind of lame.

reply

I can't believe ppl have the nerve to compare this steaming garbage to PotC.
Fyi, the ride itself doesn't matter. If the script is garbage, then the movie is garbage.

reply

Yep. Haunted House (the ride) is far more popular than both, but the movie... not so much.

reply

I hope this movie bombs so hard they have to remove these shit rides from Disney World as an apology.

reply

I hung in there for about the first forty minutes with the original "Pirates of the Caribbean" but found the remainder unwatchable. I hope "Jungle Cruise" is better than that junk.

reply

your movie taste is garbage...

reply

Lmao....POTC is a great movie...

reply

If you couldn't make it through Pirates, then this movie is not for you.

reply

I was going to post about this... How many POTC references can they stick in one movie.

Please though, no sequels. they killed POTC imo. and while I'm forgiving of the slapstick manic comedy in River Cruise, it would just pale in a sequel... Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and not a carton of smokes...

reply

I'm guessing Blunt would not choose to be in a sequel, but then, I'm surprised she chose to be in this one.
