hey i just watched this with my bird and ...both of us have been huge city of god fans but neither of us could get really get into this...maybe due to the fact that we havent seen the tv series
for me personally the father/son/child storyline really distracted from the other turf war storyline which i was really lookin forward to seeing
im not tryin to diss anyone but a low 6/10 for me.......
No big deal...City of God and City of Men are two completely different movies.
City of God is focused on the druglord side of the equation (based on true events and people.)
While, City of Men is about being just a regular person in the slums dealing with the druglords and such.
City of Men has more heart than City of God, but I love both movies; and the City of Men TV Series.
It should be the other way round. The father/son storyline is the main part of the film and the drug war is the background part, that's the way I saw it. City of God was more about the drugs whereas this was more about the normal people embroiled in it. I don't think it's important to have seen the TV series, it stands out as a film on it's own. A great film in my opinion but each to their own.
