City of God gone wrong??

I haven't seen the tv seris of City of Men but to me most of the cinematography and mise-en-scene seems exactly the same as City of God. I dunno because i havet watched it yet but it feels like this is just going to be one of them cliche, cheesy spin offs, what does everyone else think??

I think that it's a sequel. But I don't know, because I also find pudding to be the best material to make a house out of.

It is not a sequel. Though looks to have a similar feel. It is based off the television series "City of Men". Several of the actors, however, were in City of God (such as lil' Ze and Shaggy), but are portraying different characters here. Basically, the background is the same; a favela in Rio with drug gang wars. The style looks quite similar too.

It's a companion piece for City of God.

I stand corrected.

It has nothing to do with City of God, it's marketed as a sequel. It is actually the sequel to the TV series City of Men.

We've just had the same response three times. Doesn't any one read the threads before posting?

If you haven't seen the TV series CITY OF MEN you might not enjoy this film. You simply wont get it. You MUST watch the series first. To me the SERIES is better than the movie CITY OF GOD. Even though that is my fave movie ever made.

This film is the movie version/ a continuation of the TV series

Nonsense. This is not a sequel. It has NOTHING to do with City of God even though its the same actors and same filmmakers.

I just saw City of Men with my girlfriend. I had seen the series and she had not. I was afraid I would be explaining things to her throughout the film but that was not the case. By using flashbacks to scenes from the series my girlfriend was able to follow the story and she really enjoyed the film. As a huge fan of City of God and the tv series City of Men I also really loved this film. Just my 2 cents.

Nonsense!!!! It's got nothing to do with City of God, nothing whatsoever. It also has nothing at all to do with City of Men. It is actually a highly anticipated sequel to City of Angels. The characters formerly portrayed by Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan have been recast with younger actors since it was reported that both Cage and Ryan were asking for way too much money.

Get your facts right before posting on these forums. Sheesh!

Nonsense. This is not a sequel. It has NOTHING to do with City of God even though its the same actors and same filmmakers. This is a shot for shot remake of City of Ember (the director is a HUGE fan). Also, did you know that pudding is a good material to make a house out of?
