Crying At The Airport

This is an American film but directed by an Asian director, and I think the director has brought the subtle expression - things remained unsaid and buried in the heart kind of the Asian psyche into it.

As it was not expressed verbally, I was intrigued by the end of the movie when Andrea cried at the departure lounge in the airport ...

Was he crying because:
(1) Mark, one of his dearest web friends is gone?
(2) He missed Jeff, whom he just got to know better?
(3) He knew he most likely wouldn't see Jeff again, although they have bonded towards the end?
(4) Just a sense of loss, an emotional moment when he was alone?
(5) All of the above?

when i was a kid i saw my grand mother sobbing in the flight on our way back to our town. i think it happens when u get time to realize what ur leaving behind while going back to the same place where u belong. i'll choose the sense of Loss. a sense of loss.

only just seen Ciao today, i would think 5)all of the above - best suited each person interpretation. I've been thru 2) when i first my ex overseas with that dreadful missing feeling and 4) whenever i leave family at Kuala Lumpur airport returning to Auckland alone - sense of emotional loneliness.

I think it was his sense of separation. He had formed a bond with Jeff in those few days.

I would add a #6 (or perhaps a #1.5): Andrea is a deeply intuitive and empathetic being; he recognizes a huge, largely unexpressed pain (remember the scene with the doctor, where he's cut-off before he can bring-up his "partner's" death?) in Jeff, a pain they both share. More than a simple shared loss but, but a shared longing to connect with Mark that neither one of them was able -- and now never will be able -- to achieve.
