OMG, this is supposed to be drama, si why did nobody tell the writer and director to pull their socks up and make an effort! Why should I put up with really poor plots?
An early post said about how we could go along with the suspense, but there is no suspense if I know what is going to happen next!
I knew, just as everbody else, that the girl was going to fall over when chased and the boy was going to get caught because he didn;t even bother to hide or run away. OMG, these are proffesional writers who should know better.
(By the way, I don't think OMG is a very good argument, but, hey, if you think it is persuasive, then I'll try it too!)
To engage in a drama and its plot you need to be able to believe the characters and believe the plot. Of course we can suspend disbelief, but only up to a point and only so many times.
If it is early on in the story, then we let it go - it can be part of the premise. But if we are expected to believe these character and share their fears and emotions, we cannot be expected to go along with all their silly decisions. If the writers need us to believe the police would not believe them, then at least make up a plausible excuse. If that was the one and only problem, then I'd let it go.
