The last time we see Diego in the movie

The last time we see Diego, he gets into a potential "employer's" car for a day laborer job. The dialogue they exchange, while it seems ordinary, such as price, if you work hard, I'll take care of you, etc. has a tone of being for something else, as the man in the car looks Diego up and down, and almost leers at him. They drive off together and the car disappears into a slow fade. Are they implying that this man in the car had a different idea and he was maybe a John and that Diego was later murdered. Anybody else have a take on what may have happened?

It seemed pretty clear to me that it was a sexual pick up. And, if you think back, there was a scene earlier in the film where there was a newspaper with a story about illegals who went missing and were thought to have been murdered. So yes, I think you have it right...which would also fit into some film-maker's sense of the bad guy getting justice.
