Season three was too serious

First two seasons were hilarious then I don't know what happened. It became too serious. It had funny moments but overall it got too serious. New writers???

Hope the new season returns to the humor of the first two seasons. Anyone agree? I mean if I wanted to watch semi serious tv I'd just watch big brother or A&E.

I don't know what you are talking about. Ever look deep into the mirror? Maybe it is you who got too serious for the show.

"Shows like this makes me smile and chuckle. I don't even care that a lot of it is scripted. It's feel-good comedy and personally, it's for me. I enjoy laughing and smiling much more than feeling like crap. More shows should follow Duck's formula."

I mean the OP has no credibility after posting that.

None what-so-ever! Haha!

No, season 3 had too many ridiculously over-the-top parts that tried to be funny but failed, like that ludicrous scene at Ashley Schaeffer's house where Stevie was made up like a geisha and Schaeffer was firing off cannonballs. Season 1 had the perfect mix of hilarious comedy and it had some truly grounded, poignant moments at times.

Oh, and you're talking about the stupid reality show Big Brother like it's a serious drama? The f-ck?

Serious as In "I don't want to watch other people BS drama".

reply

Wasn't that season 1?

I think that this first episode is underscoring your desire by having a yuppiefied Kenny about to break bad (not like WW!) on some suburbia.

That was mean what that guy said about what you posted about Duck Dynasty. I gathered from the quote he used that you merely said that you enjoyed the feel-good mindless entertainment it provides (sometimes we all need that, and if someone wants to act snooty then *beep* em). You also clearly said that *more* shows should follow that formula, yet he attacked you as though you said *all* shows should do so. Ever watch Shelby the Swamp Man? Stupid as sh!t but fun as hell :)

You deserve an internet hug. Online empathy and critical reading skills on display.

Aw, thanks :)
There's so little of that on here I try to balance the fake with some real, results may vary...

reply

I will look that up, thanks! And yes, you're correct. I don't take Duck Dynasty serious. It's just a nice show when you're tired of hearing the types of things that are on the news and the hard times people have to endure everyday. Sometimes it's nice to just see a simple, fun show like that. I know it's scripted. I know it's all about ratings and I know how the system works. I work in advertising but nonetheless, I still like the show for what it's worth. Simple as that. If someone doesn't like a show that I like, well I'm not going to lose any sleep over it :)

reply

I don't think season 3 was too serious. I think it just wasn't as funny because the timing and tone of the jokes were off. Some scenes ran too long like an SNL skit.

So far, this season is as funny as the first two seasons because it doesn't seem to be wasting time in getting to the point. I guess the writers put their bongs down and got back to writing a funny show. Lol

reply

Can you be funnier or make better points please?

reply

They went back to the basics and the humor is a lot quicker and sharper again. It's really that simple.

reply

No. I made my point. If you didn't get it, too bad. I'm not trying to be your special ed teacher. Watch the show for all the laughs you need.

reply

Nah. You must have got lost somewhere down the line and dropped out. It's cool. Love you, bro. You can still get your GED in sense of humor on network TV/basic cable. Good luck. Kenny will be there if you need a tutor.

reply

Man, I've heard alot about this show, but could careless about the racial jokes from some southern A hole. I started on season three and the first couple of minutes was just dumb racist jokes. Can't stand the show already.

reply

You are way too sensitive, get over it. There are plenty of shows/movies/stand up routines that say much worse racist things about white people(In Living Color, White Chicks, Higher Learning, Martin Lawrence, Def Comedy Jam, Chris Rock, George Lopez, etc) Go whine on those boards. The whole EastBound and Down show makes fun of the Kenny Powers character and the stereotypes of redneckish whites from NC.

The fourth and final season is great, and certainly better than season 3 (which I still liked quite a bit).

Fighting the frizzies, at 11.

reply

The fourth season was supremely dope, dude.

reply

Maybe season 4 got too serious. It was like a different show altogether. Deeper. McBride as an actor (and not just a buffoon) was really impressive in season 4.

Just a opinion bro, go get a hug someplace. Sounds like you need one.

reply

Don't you see that you two both need to hug more than you both don't need to give each other big black bear stiffy hugs?

reply

There seems to be a bit of hate here, but I agree with your comment. I haven't seen Season 4 yet, but the show became too sentimental during Season 3. I thought the first two seasons were hilarious, but they overdosed on the whole baby/family angle. It seems they ran out of material and went for the lazy, sappy approach.
