References to original, SPOILERS

Jesus Christ, how many references were there to the original? And why the hell would good old josh still be in operation? I know it's possible for computers to still be working from those days (C64 comes to mind) but jesus wouldnt they have created some new algorithms or something? I donno, make improvements to the original? have RIPLEY a 2.0 of Josh?
Eitherway favorate ref. was when he is picking a game to play, glances at Global Thermonuclear War, and shakes his head.

Yea, it does kinda turn into a rant...but I can accept it. And I feel fairly validated in it.

I liked the game list too. Another reference was when he "hacked" a public telephone.

It would have been cool if Broderick's character would have figured in somehow.

I thought this was inferior in script, acting and production to the original. That said, it wasn't the worst sequel I've ever seen.

It's been a little while since I saw the film, and I did much drinking to blank it from my memory, but I swear there was a vague allusion that the main character of this one was the son of Broderick's character.

Hey, not all first-time computers are tossed in the garbage heap. My folks have the original TRASH80 complete with B/W TV screen, and cassette deck w/tapes I used to save programs on when writing or copying them from computer manuals from back in the day. In fact, there's a couple of boxes stashed somewhere with many of the computer manuals I had through the years, starting with the TRASH80 and others.

The older computers are slow but it doesn't mean they are dead. Even now, a mobo might slow down but all one has to do is rip out the mobo, replace it, replace ram, decide if hard drive and peripherals need upgrading and wham, you're back on track. Wasn't the case with earlier systems but with the new ones over the last 5 years or so that has been the case - so to speak...

I thought the old guy that started helping them might have been David from the first film.

Just guessing really.

Though I found the orighainl film is still my favoirte.

The new one lacks charm.

As for old computer magazine, there's supposed to be website with very large database/archive of allthe old computer magzines. Well most of them anyway.

I think it's called http://www.worldofspectrum.com

You may find this intertesting.
