Stupid Quote - Falken + Cloak and Dagger

Stupid quote by Falken : "...I almost started World War III"

I am going, HUH?? No, you idiot, David Lightman (the character Matthew Broderick played) almost started World War III. It is you who helped save
the day. I would not be so proud to take that much credit.

And what was up with the secrecy, cloak and dagger stuff in Montreal?
Wasnt the lakeside of Washington State or the Rocky Mountains not good
enough for you?

First your dead only to be found alive in 1983, people knew you were
alive then. Now your dead and revealed alive in posh Montreal in 2008?
Stupid ass, everyone knows you always have been alive for the last
25 years. Why all the sneaking around with hat and cloak?

How did you know that college kids were going to be in Montreal and
at the airport?

Oh yeah, your dead again. Is it for good, now? I need to know for
sure so that why I will not be so shocked with they might do
"War Games 3" in 2033

Falken actually DID nearly start WWIII. It was Broderick's character who stumbled into the program via a "backdoor pass" that FALKEN PUT INTO THE PROGRAM!

If Falken had not placed the backdoor password in the program, then Broderick would never have been playing war games with Joshua, thus requiring Falken's assistance as well as Broderick's; Both older man and young man had to force Joshua into realizing that total annihiliation was in essence, a Pyrrhic victory and therefore not worth playing.

I still think it's a shame that if a computer can realize world annihilation is not the answer then humans really are idiots because far too many believe it is the answer. Before anyone says anything... Yes, this is a television show but after the Bush administration and their #$%#^#$%^@#, nothing surprises me anymore. Orwell's 1984 was a freaking typo... We're living it now and have been for some 8 years thanks to Shrub and Company.

as Paisley1 says, Falken felt the programs originally devised by him (Josuha and then WOPR) had been used to create a system which in time might make war almost inevitable so yes indeed he felt "he almost started World War III," despite the fact he also helped to AVOID it.

Now as to what happened after 1983, none of it is explained (really) so it is left for us to guess/deduce what probably happened.
