The film is gonna be shot in Greece in many places as the leading role is looking for her greek father around Greece!

great news to have a new film from Nia Tom and Rita on Greece

oh but the Greeks will support it :) you can guarantee that.. the television show took it a little far.. fi she does another quality heart warming movie like My big Fat Greek Wedding it should be a success and will NOT bomb... Greeks have to much support to let it bomb .. especially if it is filmed in Greece

Greece certainly doesn't wait to be discovered......it has been the exotic destination for travellers since 18th and 19th century so i suppose this is not the point. Another film is shooting in Greek islands right now ( MAMMA MIA) so i guess Greece still has the appeal. If the film focus on humorous situations that just happens to take place in Greece it will be a success. If it tries to be another "Greek wedding" then people probably will turn it down for luck of originality....

Well... I can tell you that an important part of "Greece" is being filmed in Alicante (Spain) at the moment... I know cause I was on the set today... It looks good!

While "Mamma Mia" the musical starring Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan is being filmed in Skiathos and Skopelos ( Greek islands ) since last week.....what's your point ?

Don't get offended. All I'm saying is that nowadays a movie about "greece" is not necesarily filmed in "Greece", or Spain, or anywhere else. And I'm saying that I'm in the movie and it looks good. Yesterday we had to stop filming for unexpected rain, but today was quite productive.

I Apologise C macia...Guess iwas a bit "tuned" by another post somewhere around with obvious irony about Nia Vardalos, her Greek heritage and the fact she is - again - doing a movie with Greek subject.

Thanks Margo. No apologies necessary. The truth is the filming is very interesting. On friday we had a loooong session (Richard Dreyfuss is an interesting character... both in and out of the film! :) ).

Rumour is this is a sequel to "My Big...", so that would explain why the greek subject remains.

Anyways, I think it's great that someone talks about her/his heritage or culture: that's such an important part of our lives.

p.s. My brother lives in Greece and he loves it! :)

They were filming on the Acropolis today. A member of my cruise messageboard saw Nia and Tom Hanks there.

Parts of the movie will be shot in Olympia (even if it is burnt now..?), Delphi, Epidaurus etc.

They were filming in Olympia on October 10. I was there. The tour guide with my group had to do things in a different sequence in order to accomodate the film crew.

For whomever may cares :
Unfortunately the forests around Olympia and Cronios hill will never be the same at least not in our time. It took decades of years for this green environment to grow and only minutes to burnt in ashes.
Olympia and its spirit has survived through far worst catastrophes. It was so bad timing for the film yet there is still Delphi and Acropolis. Actually there was some shooting these days in Akropolis according to the Greek newspapers.
