worst movie i've ever seen

i think this must have been the worst movie i've ever seen. i was shocked to read on imdb that the cinematographer has done a bunch of almodovar movies because tons of his shots were overexposed or out of focus. the dubbing was totally off at times (like watching a kung fu movie)...all of the characters (except for the lead and dryfus) were total caricatures with no depth and the dialogue was horrible (and rarely funny).

i liked greek wedding and even though i'm a guy i enjoy good chick flicks (notting hill, love actually etc)...this was not one of them. 1/10.

yea i went to this b/c one of my friends wanted to go and i hadnt even heard of the film...she was literally apologizing to me for half the movie and on the way out. it's usually a sign it'll be a bad movie when in the first scene the protagonist breaks the 4th wall and talks directly to the audience...it's a sure sign we're getting no character development.

You must have had a bad print, or a bad projectionist because I saw it today and nothing was out of focus and I noticed no bad dubbing problems. It was the third movie I saw today and of the three it was the best. I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was the only two other people in the theater chatting all the way through and during the end credits were clapping like they were Zorba. I think if they had some plates they would have been smashing them. Why can't people behave in public anymore?

You're being way too kind. The film and "plot", if you can call it that, is the worst piece of tripe I've seen in a long time. I too liked My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but this was stupid beyond belief. Dumb story, trite ridiculous dialog, lack of continuity, bad editing, dumb characters, and just awful, awful, awful. I've climbed around ruins in that part of the world, and NOBODY, including the tour guide, wears high-heeled platform shoes like that. NOBODY.

It's films like this that have driven me out of theaters. What an awful film. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. If you want a film to MISS this summer, make it this one.

I doubt I'll try her other new film. It'll probably be just as bad.

^ Well, it really sounds horrible, quite frankly.

Except for the part about Rachel Dratch's line about "sch-load."

Actually, the worst movie you ever saw was either Ishtar, Glitter, or any movie with Diesel Van...or Van Diesel...or whatever his name is.

1/10 just because you saw a bad print? There was no dubbing issues with this movie and the characters were just like they are in all "chick flicks" - even MBFGW.

Lighten up! It was a cute movie. I don't know why more people don't like lighthearted films. All they want to do is watch extremely deep films like my douche bag friends who just want to watch Donnie Darko.

reply

Donnie Darko deep???? wow! I believe we have a very limited culture when in comes to cinema.

reply

If it's the worst you have seen then you haven't seen many movies

I watched it on Amazon 'Video on Demand' and thought it was pleasant, light and funny. I really liked the lead character (played by Nia Vardalos); she didn't seem to stray too far from the character she played in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'. This is a good thing! Both movies are a tonic after watching lots of the crap that is being produced now in Hollywood.
I don't even like Richard Dreyfus but I tolerated him just fine in this movie. Yeah, everyone acted like a stereotype - but to comedic effect. Ever had a problem with that in almost EVER OTHER COMEDY being produced today?
(Stereotypes: horny guys, conflicted ambitious women, intellectual pregnant or promiscuous teenagers, greedy fat cat traders, bored spiritual suburbanites, etc. I could go ON and ON and ON....)

Actually, Ishtar wasn't bad at all. Maybe I'm remembering it more kindly than I should, but I remember laughing quite a bit and enjoying it in the theatres. It was not even one of the bottom 12 worst movies I've ever seen. The Big Break, Because I Said So, and 2 Weeks Notice were all way worse than Ishtar.

reply

I saw "Glitter" and "Ishtar" and they were works of genius compared to this movie. "My Life" was truly dreadful. I loved the scenery, tho. The only redeeming part of the movie. The rest was one big waste of time.

reply

It was a 'fluffy' movie, airy and light. A bit contrived but still better than IQ or Groundhog Day, 2 that I walked out on. And I'm a true film fan. So it's worth seeing for a few laughs and great scenery.

reply

There were other movies I would have rather seen than this one, but I didn't get to choose so I was pleasantly suprised that I enjoyed it. As for the focus & dubbing problems, that's got be due to the theater you saw it in because what we saw was fine. My only gripe, and it's a petty one, is that Georgia had freaking heels on the whole time. Yeah, you're going to climb around the ruins on 3-inch wedge heels.

Didn't the title say it'a ruin?
