I've watched it straight through from pilot to finale here in the US... AMAZING SHOW

The name of the show here in the USA is Meadowlands. Odd that the titles are different. When I first tried to find information about the show on the internet movie database I kept wondering why my search results kept bringing up Cape Wrath. Show time has got the entire first season on the In Demand Channel.

What I'm curious about is what the title "Cape Wrath" refers to. Everyone in the show refers to the "town" they live in as "Meadowlands". I find it hard to believe they looped the voices to change all references to "Cape Wrath" to "Meadowlands".

Anyone know what "Cape Wrath" means?

reply

Cape Wrath is the name of the experiment being conducted on the inhabitants of Meadowlands. It's openly refered to in the dialogue of the last few episodes.

I love this show! I hadn't watched Showtime in months since Dexter ended. I got it again and spent an entire day watching this show. So good.

I read some of the replies, by Brits and Americans...I'm Canadian. I don't want to say that the only way this show would have lasted is if it was turned into an American ripoff. But some of the Brits have a point. It might be too "weird" for America. But why is Lost such a hit? I just know that I'm mad that once again I got hooked on a show that was never given a chance.

I'm sorry for all the people who think that Weeds is a great show. I personally think it's a stupid show with a main character who whines and has a coffee straw in her mouth. I need something with more depth.

reply

Well, this American loves the weirdness of this show. I admire British television for being able to take things a step further than many of our own shows here do. ( Too many of our shows focus on being too mainstream for me). This show is a refreshing breath of air, because it dares to be one thing that we here in America our lacking these days in our shows and that is Originality! Season 2 of Meadowlands please !!!!

Channel 4 confirmed last week that they won't be making a 2nd series. :(

"So it’s bad news for Cape Wrath fans looking for any answers as to what Meadowlands really is - and why it is in the middle of the desert. A source at Channel 4 tells me it won’t be returning for a second series. She said the show had been seen as something as an “experiment” for the broadcaster, but added audiences had not been as good as they had hoped they would be for the Ecosse production, meaning all the loose ends will have to remain untied for now."

reply

Well - I'm an American and me and my friends absolutely LOVE this show....can't wait to see what's next !!!!

Yeah sometimes, I'll see certain ratings for a particular series or film and it will say that it did not go over with American audiences and I want to say, "Where is this being based on? All the people that I know love this particular film or show?,".Sometimes I wonder about these so called ratings systems.

reply

Well if it is canceled I dont see why they couldnt just tell us what the experiment was about.
