Anyone still here - spoiler queston!

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone is still reading this now that it's long over, but I just finished watching it in the 4oD archives.

What puzzled me about the ending was this: if Meadowlands was completely in the middle of nowhere and there was no way of escaping, then how on earth did Samantha get to London?

And when Evelyn and Abigail went on a shopping trip, and came back with all those high-street bags (I think I saw a Reiss bag for example), how did they manage to get to a shopping centre which sells highstreet clothes? If the shopping centre is in Meadowlands, then how did they get all the stock over, explain it to the owner of the shops, who works in the shops etc etc etc???

AND - in the last episode, where Danny invites some men who are working in but (according to Wintersgill) AREN'T residents of Meadowlands, where do they live?!? Do they need to get a helicopter out of Meadowlands everytime they want to get back home?

Or maybe these questions don't need answering at all because the last scene was Danny's imagination, or everything was a big dream of Samantha's, which is why nothing ties up right. What do you think?

Yes I wondered that too though SAm did say when in London that it "took a long time to get here", it is a great, but somewhat flawed ending, unless it was altered at the end when they found out a 2nd series wasn't going to happen, so Danny hit a "brick wall", so to speak.

reply

Hehe yeah I was wondering that. I agree it looks like they were hoping for another series and then got screwed and that was what Danny's speech was about. Because as soon as he said that only Meadowlands was real, the rest of the world disappeared. A whole mind/memory/perception shizzle.
Thought it was a lame ending anyway, to use an Americanism. It blatantly wanted to be like a C21st 'Prisoner' (You kids/international users just search that in the bar above) but didn't have the patience to build up the suspense or atmosphere. Or characters or mythology/backstory. That said, endings are usually rubbish aren't they?

Probably why it was cancelled...
