So there's like 5 of us who like this show?

I thought it was pretty funny the first time I watched the pilot, and hilarious the second time. My roommate seems to agree with me, so I know im not completely alone on this. Seems like most of the people here hated it though. A lot of it seems to be that they don't really seem to get the humor, although a couple did and still didn't like it.

In case you want to see what my typical adult swim preferences are, Aqua Teen is my favorite show followed closely by Frisky Dingo, I'm one of the few people who likes Squidbillies, and i absolutely can't stand Tom goes to the Mayor or 12 oz mouse. Except for liking squidbillies, I think im pretty consistent with your average [AS] viewer, so is Saul just my new Squidbilly anomaly?

Oh and im still pissed about no more space ghost, brak show, and perfect hair forever. Sealab on the other hand should have ended when Goz died, after that it was just crap.

Well I will agree with you that Saul doesn't contain any real outstanding jokes. If I was just reading the script for the show without any of the visual, I would probably say it should be scrapped. However, it is the execution of the material that makes the show funny. The acting and bad special effects echo the independent sci/fi horror movies of the 60's and 70's, which for some of us who are familiar with these movies, is enough to keep us laughing most of the 11 minutes. Granted, I didn't even exist when these movies were initially released, but I've been watching plenty of MST3K to catch me up to speed.

I think you have to be the kind of person who finds a lot of humor in movies like Manos: Hands of Fate to enjoy this show. Otherwise I could see how it would be a painful ordeal.

I like the show, I think it is funny. *smirk* I especially liked the bit where Captain Jim J James tells Saul to cover his genitals with a terry cloth. "But I can't do that, I'm just a geologist." "You're a Strata geologist!" I also think I liked the way Saul says geologist way too much...

~~Mel Gibson is not amused~~

Its much better the second time. I missed too many of the jokes the first time. What was with that Asian Vampire O_o;

I just appreciate the style of the show, it has a good foundation and premise, now it just needs to build on that. I loved the second intro song. Plus I can't wait to see the 60's acid song clip.

Can't really judge the show only after one episode. So I'm really to give it a go, at the moment I like it too.

Ehhhh, if you _have_ to light up the bong to enjoy the show, then it's not a good show. If a person lights the bong enough times, he can watch pretty much anything and have a GREAT time.

If you can't enjoy the show straight, then it probably stinks. Sure, go ahead and light up, but maybe maintain some critical faculties while you do.

We don't really want to hear anything more about the stick up your bum. Please keep your personal habits to yourself.

"Y'know, removing the stick our of your ass.. appreciating creativity."

It has a creative concept, it's just the actors are horrible, the sets, everything. If they made it an animated show, made it more "adult" and got good VAs, then it could be standable. I enjoy creativity, I try watching new shows (this one included) and I found it the worst thing by far Adult Swim put out. Along with 12 oz. Mouse, Adult Swim should know horror when they see it.

So, urchinau, light up another bong and waste 15 more minutes this weekend. Waste 15 more on Tim & Eric.

reply

"Come on, Saul's "backgrounds" are less impressive than what they used for the last round of Nick Arcade."

Vexen, don't you understand? Are you joking?

reply

but...ummmm, it's supposed to be horrible. That's kinda the point.

Everyone who I've talked to who watched to original Land of the Lost series freaking loves this show. Oh well, I guess it's a little old for Adult Swim's target audience.

reply

the bad acting is why its hillarious

while the show is funny, it also has an extremely addictive plot, and it somehow manages to be epic.

the show is genius, lighten up and let yourself get swallowed into the epidemic of saul malone.

reply

i think its hard not to laugh at any of the comedies on AS right now, There is different humor for different people. I love Saul and Squidbillies and Tom goes to the Mayor...I just get it I guess

reply

The first two episodes haven't been as good as I imagined but I still enjoy it.

reply

i like aqua teen hunger force, Tom goes to the mayor, tim and eric awsome show great job and saul of the molemen the most out of adult swim

reply

I'm glad that these shows are so polarizing...for every number of people who hate it like hell there are an equal amount who absolutely love them. That means that great shows like SotMM will never go off the air because there will always be those of us who watch it enough to keep it going.

reply

so far i like it. I'll be sure with a few more new episodes. COUNT ME AS A FAN

Saul of the Mole Men makes Sunday nights better. I get that toasty-warm feeling on the inside that there's a higher power that just wants us to be better and help other people out.

That or shove an antenna through someone else's head.

reply

Saul is starting to grow on me, but Tim and Eric is a little too self-indulgent.

What I really wanted to see is more animation.

reply

yeah, Tim and Eric is kinda... bleh, but I'm surprised by how much I'm actually enjoying Saul of the Mole Men. I still don't like the idea of having live action as a part of the regular line-up, but I suppose as long as the network doesn't get overrun with it, it'll be fine.

It's odd because when I saw the first episode of Saul, I absolutely hated it. I looked forward to this show because Josh Gardner is truly hilarious, if you haven't seen Wanderlust do yourself a favor and check them out on Youtube. With that being said, it's strange because as I said I hated the first episode and thought the show was going to be awful, but I gave it another shot and really enjoyed the next two episodes. The election episode was hysterical, and practically everything Gardner says cracks me up.

Bonus points for not being able to get the addictive theme song out of my head as well.
