Mr. Peabody sword fights right-handed and plays guitar left-handed.

reply

I write with my right hand and throw with my left, so it's not really a mistake.

reply

But you are a freak.

reply

No, some people are like that.

reply

Okay. But I still think it's odd. The guitar is an upside down right handed guitar, so maybe the sword scene was mirror image.

reply

You are a grumpy republican !

reply

That's funny. I've been a card carrying liberal my entire life.

reply

I play guitar and use a fork right handed, but do everything else left handed. My son throws right handed and kicks left footed, but writes, bats, uses a fork and does everything else left handed.

reply

Re the guitar-playing: I think if you check, you'll find that a guy named Hendrix played the guitar left handed, and he used a right-handed guitar he played upside-down. My guess is that this a a nod to Jimi.

reply

That's what originally caught my attention in the commercial. The upside down headstock and other features that indicated it was a right-handed guitar being played left handed. Then I hit rewind to look at the sword fight again.

reply

Whoa! Somebody got it right!

reply

Man, and it is such a pita to play like that. The wrist is always hitting the volume knobs. Getting to the high frets is harder. The strap doesn't like to stay on. I was always surprised he didn't get a lefty strat and restring it right handed.

reply

I never got my card. Who issues them? What's the application process?

reply

"I write with my right hand and throw with my left, so it's not really a mistake."
"But you are a freak."

"God, when I meet you, I'm gonna be pretty. If it's the last thing I do. I'll be a beautiful angel."

reply

Jeez! Really???

I've got a friend who throws right-handed, and was clocked throwing a baseball at 84 mph. He bats right-handed and I've seen him hit line-drives that made 3rd baseman duck and bail out.

He deals cards and throws a Frisbee left-handed and shoots a hockey puck left-handed.

More importantly, IMMEDIATELY after Mr. Peabody rocks is impression of Jimi Hendrix (a lefty who played a right-handed guitar upside-down) he plays an acoustic guitar Flamenco style -- right-handed!!!

reply

Paul McCartney plays bass left handed.

reply

Thank you, Mr. Obvious.

reply

another goof

reply

You are a hateful unhappy unkind republican !

reply

I voted for Ross Perot

reply

The only anachronism I didn't care for was when Aganemnon said: Don't tase me bro. It was Take it easy bro in the trailer, but a Greek warrior shouldn't know what a taser is.

Yes I know, they are seen eating pizza earlier in the movie, but they could have forced the guy at the counter to give it to them at sword point. The smell attracted them.

But I feel they should't have used that lame pop culture reference.

reply

Soooo, and ancient Greek saying, "Don't taze me, bro." is bad, but him speaking perfect English, accepting of a talking dog and kidnapping a woman is ok????

reply

Yes, it irked me. Him speaking English along with all the other figures in history is understandable, since its a children's film and they don't want to do the hard work or having them speak Egyptian, French, etc.

Valkyrie did the same thing, rather than have to re-do the whole script in German and have everyone learn it.

The talking dog I can understand, since Mr. Peabody does this in the original cartoon.

Kidnapping a woman is not okay, but its done for comedic purposes. They didn't kill off Miss Grunion with the Sphinx's nose, and they had to get rid of her without killing her. So they stranded her back in Ancient Greece, and eventually she digs the marriage because she kisses Agamenon back.

reply

I thought it was very funny in this case for the characters to be out of character. The filmmakers went to some lengths to get historical details right at first and then had fun intentionally ignoring those same details. There's so much to discover in this movie that I want to rewatch it right away!

reply

My son does most sports 'left handed', although he's a switch hitter with baseball & softball. He can throw fairly well right handed also. He even plays soccer 'left footed', HOWEVER, her writes & eats right handed. This is probably because I am SEVERELY right handed, can't even figure out how to hold a pencil left handed and he always wanted to do 'like Mama does' when he was learning how to write and eat. He's 17 now and has recently tried to switch to left handed writing just for the heck of it.

reply

It would be fun if he learned to write with both hands at the same time.

It takes practice to switch hands. At least I got that expression from a friend that broke his hand years ago then he was still in school. Forcing him to temporarily write his other had until it healed.

Sometimes I get the urge to train my other hand in case I get tired with one hand.

I don't find this a goof at all. The thing is some people (especially ones trying to become smarter) like to be versatile in both hands. There's a good reason for that, and no, it's not masturbation.

reply

you use your leading hand for tuning not struming

reply

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. When playing the guitar the dominant hand is used for strumming, picking, etc. The other hand is play the notes and chords on the guitar neck. Tuning has nothing to do with playing, but typically when tuning you would pick the string with your dominant hand since that is the way you are already holding the guitar, and you turn the tuning machine heads with your non-dominant hand. But you could pluck the strings with your toes and turn the tuners with your dominant hand if you wanted too, but when playing the dominant hand always is the pick/strum hand.

reply

Inigo and Wesley sword fight well with either hand. Just saying...

reply

You might notice the song he played was a Jimi Hendrix song. I'll let you figure out the rest for yourself.
