yes, love this movie very sweet. Why are french movies always so good?

I really enjoyed this film. There were so many minor characters, the customers, and then the central plot about embracing responsibility. It was a very well paced and well acted film.

Because they take the time to develop the main characters, not just superficially the way Hollywood now does it.

Absolutely and utterly agree. Just finished watching it and could not believe how someone in one review here called it a "dud." I totally get it's not for everyone but a dud?? No!! Did anyone else feel the vehicle, a Peugeot I think, was a character itself? I couldn't help feel most of the movie revolved around that poor old van and it was willing them to sort out their problems just so it could continue to be driven around the beautiful countryside?!! Strange but true! I tell you, when it fell and 1st hit Lucienne and then shortly after Fernand the mechanic, I had a wry smile for it every scene thereafter!

Highly recommended viewing!!

I saw this in the theater and thought it was ok.

That's the big difference. I personally really liked this movie a lot even though there were some parts I thought need a little more development. The scenery was drop dead GORGEOUS!!! OMG...! I can never see myself living in the countryside, but visiting it is so refreshing because you see a different side of life that is SO different from city life. It can get depressing because there aren't that many young people left and you're left with the sulking, angry, or confused old country people...

The love scene between Antoine and Claire should not have been that tame. It was a big let down because this movie was strongly about him and her as well as his conflict with his family (father mostly). I wasn't looking for nudity and gratuitous sex, but I wanted to see them "really" connect and make me feel the connection between by seeing them kiss and not just play around behind a curtain and hearing her breath and moan.

The ending was good though.
