Voldemort + Keira Knightley = Vulnerable!

In Pirates of the Caribbean, Domino, Atonement, even Pride and Prejudice I saw a defiant hell-raiser that loved carelessly and spoke her mind.

For the first time tonight, I saw a vulnerable woman thrust into a situation she was not prepared for. I suppose we could all relate to having the wool moved from our eyes to see the world and it's people for what it is. Seeing her character's suffering, pain and regret--

*spoiler*

Without an ounce of happiness granted to her for all of that suffering, and holding her head up high all for her children by the end of the film really made me appreciate Kiera's versatility as an actress. I swore I'd never see a movie where she was compliant, complacent, and cordial but there it is: The Duchess

It was a wonderful film. Some would say it was depressing, but at least it was realistic for it's time and possibly even today. What man would willingly let his wife be with another man in public while he openly cheated? This is a timeless story that many people suffer from today.

I would even go so far as to say that men still prefer to have sons than daughters. It's 2011, and I can see the faces of women today with the same sad story.

It was a well made film, and Kiera did a wonderful job.

I couldn't agree more. It is still as it was. Men can have lovers openly and if woman wants that's terrible.
Also many women forgive their husbands affairs but men don't forgive so easily or very rarely.

Yes, and there is still a lot of women who have many daughters and the husband wants son.

I...what...does Voldemort have to do with this post?

Sometimes, I wish I was a ho.

reply

I forget his name, sorry

Are you talking about Ralph Fiennes? You didn't even mention him in your post and what does the subject mean?

Sometimes, I wish I was a ho.

reply

Of course I mentioned him..read it again.

This is all you said about him, and in passing: "What man would willingly let his wife be with another man in public while he openly cheated?" What does that have to do with anything? The rest of it was all about Keira.

Sometimes, I wish I was a ho.

You said I didn't mention him at all.....

reply

Ok, you mentioned him, sorry, I forgot. Still, what does he have to do with your post?

Sometimes, I wish I was a ho.

Hahaha, it's cool.

Honestly, at the time I thought it was a cute title. I couldn't remember his name, and was too lazy to click the back button and edit so I just called him Voldemort.

I was shocked Keira could be vulnerable and submissive in a role, which is all I really wanted to talk about. I don't know if Ralph has anything to do with it, but maybe the director thought the kind of characters he plays would be a perfect match for the potential Keira would display in this movie. It was completely unexpected to me based on her resume.

Haha, okay got it.

Sometimes, I wish I was a ho.

reply

Because Ralph Finnes and the Duke were both played by Lord Voldemort!
