Are we supposed to believe

Are we supposed to believe that the aristocratic men of XVIII century England were ripped and muscular as Ralph and Dominic were when they took their shirts off?
I mean, good for Ralph for looking like that at his age, I admire that, but think about what the real Duke looked like with his shirt off.

Well Hollywood always does it in period pieces of this type it's usually more often with ladies but guys are not free of it.

Henry VIII never looked like Jonathan Rhys Meyers or Eric Bana he was ginger and very fat, not attractive at all.

Victoria never looked like Emily Blunt so I thank the director for showing us Ralph Fiennes looking so hot loll.
No seriously Ralph gave a great performance as the duke, I really felt sorry for Georgina because of how mean he was to her.
I can forgive modern muscles In this case hehe

Actually, Henry VIII was known for his great looks as a young man. He was an avid sportsman and had a great physique and was said to be really handsome. He was injured in a jousting incident and never recovered, so he became sedentary...but he kept eating like a horse so he grew into the size he's known for today. But you're right about actors generally being much better looking than the people they portray. I'm okay with it in anything with Ralph Fiennes as well .

Dancing. Even if one's partner is barely tolerable.

Well yes was handsome for his times but didn't look like Eric Bana in The Other Boleyn girl or Jonathan in the Tudors.
But you are right I should fix the he was never handsome because yeah there was a time he was good looking.

And with Ralph well it's almost impossible to make him look unattractive, many girls said he was hot even with a few extra pounds in Schindler's list.

Sarizonana, it's not a case of Henry VIII didn't look like Eric Bana, why don't you reverse that, and say it again.

Actually Henry V111 was an extremely fit man in his younger days and apparently quite good looking. After a fall from a horse, he developed an abscess on his leg which over time got much worse. He was in excruciating pain and was unable to be anywhere near as active. He actually nearly died from this fall. In the years preceding his death he became a extremely overweight and unhealthy man with a foul temper.
