I thought...

I thought my family and I were at the wrong theater when we watched the movie in front of us. What? We're actually watching Sumo-lah? NOOOO!!!!!!!! So I took out the tickets and checked the title: MUKSHIN. Ok. That was right. Are we in the right theater? I think we are. So why is Sumo-lah playing?

I thought that this movie (Mukshin-lah) was good. It was very simple and it worked. I watched this movie with a theaterful of people (it was the last show, and thank GOODNESS there were no Ah Bengs or Ah Lians) and it made the difference. Evidently they knew about the movie they were watching, but I'm sure they didn't recognize the little Chinese boy who was Jason. My sis did at the second scene at the football match.

There weren't many words in this movie, which is great. I think there are too many movies with too many words for the audience but this is a great example of how love is its own language, a language where words aren't needed to express one's feelings. Yasmin did a great job.

I really like the two prominant songs in the movie. I watched the trailer on YouTube before it came out on TV, and I heard the words "Mega mendung di angkasa..." and I sat there, thinking, hmmm....didn't Puan R (my very berbakat and eccentric BM teacher) say that "mega" doesn't only mean big but also means awan? She mentioned that the SAME day that I saw the trailer for the first time! What a coincidence.

I'm not going to compare Mukshin to Sepet or Gubra because all three, though having the same characters, are in different leagues of their own. Marvellous and beautiful in their own way. I still have much more to say but can't say it now as time is a constraint.

What about other movie-watchers? What did you think about this movie as a whole?
