the ending? (contains spoilers!)

I've just seen this movie and was a bit puzzled by the ending. When Ginko disappears by the lake, does it mean he has now fully transformed to the mushi Ginko? Or is it only to indicate that what we've seen in the movie are just some of his adventures? (I don't know the manga, but I'd guess its story-arc is a bit more complex than the movie)
Can anybody help?

He just walks off. That's all it is. The plot in the movie is just plain ADD. Its structure and flow is reminescent of a 3 AM college essay.

They just take a couple episodes from the manga, glue them together to "introduce" Ginko to the audience (ie show off his awesome abilities), take a couple more slightly arc significant episodes, heavily modify them, and put it all together with duct tape.

If you didn't understand the ending, you got it right; it really doesn't make much sense at all.

I loved the anime and was excited to see the movie. I wanted to like it, but what you say is true. It's pretty much 4 or 5 different episodes mashed together. The anime was slowpaced, but this was plain dull in some spots. At least it looked pretty...

I completely bought the film's premise and I loved the leisurely pacing and the detailed period setting. I was enjoying my good luck in watching a terrific movie that wasn't referencing obscure plot points that only a manga reader would know.
And then the movie ended cold .... That was majorly disappointing. I need a little more explanation, please.
