Jim Halpert gave me unrealistic expectations of boyfriends.

I'm a guy and I am dying to see this. Sadly it's nowhere near me so I can't, but this is definately one that I plan on going to see with my girlfriend if it ever comes to the area. Plus, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are attractive so at the very least he'll have something to look at throughout if he doesn't like it.

Without hope, life's not worth living.

It's not really a great date movie, IMO. There's a lot of dysfunction here.

I think my current not-a-date-movie pick would be Duplicity. I just don't think "Nobody trusts anybody" is a very romantic sentiment. Heh.

I saw it as a date movie last night. Her pick. First choice was going to be Monsters Vs. Aliens, but she settled for this. Yeah, it's in the chick flick category... but it wasn't a bad movie. You'll likely enjoy it, though it never really felt "complete" to me. A few things needing resolution before the movie ended that never came. But I was never bored watching it.

im almost 30 years old (im a guy)... i dont really think it's a 'chick flick' although obviously the story focuses around 2 girls.... at the end of the day i liked the film and it turned out better than i thought as i thought Amy Adams carried the film... i give the film a 7-8/10 (i went with a 8/10 though)

as for a 'first date movie'... im no expert in this dept but i would say there's definitely worse films (i.e. geared more towards guys) you could take a girl to than this, that much im sure of.... but all in all depending on age i think a film like this sorta has a good message behind it etc so i think you could probably take a girl to a film like this.

i don't want to choose a chick flick (come one, what guy wants that?!"

i definitely agree here but i don't think this film falls into that category unlike some films which are hardcore chick flicks... those are the types of films guys don't want to see.

but i guess some people definitions will vary on what is a 'chick flick' ;) ... but if your one of those people who thinks the vast majority of films with female lead's are 'chick flicks' then you might think this film is one of those... but to me there's a difference between a 'chick flick' and something like this film.

It depends on what your definition of chick flick is. It's a film that stars two women. If that's what you consider a chick flick, then yes.

This is a character driven movie.
