For anyone still questioning the ID of cell phone man

It was confirmed by the TV guide staff yesterday. Here is a look at their article from their TV News section:

The real "Cell Phone Man" will be revealed on the first-season finale of
Lifetime’s Side Order of Life.

"They said they were looking for a voice that could convey humanity, warmth
and a sexy vulnerability — Gilbert Gottfried was unavailable so it fell to
me," actor Steven Weber jokingly tells TV Guide.

In the cable net’s Ally McBeal-esque hour-long dramedy, Marisa Coughlan plays Jenny, an ambitious magazine writer/photographer who’s examining life’s purpose with great intensity and a little bit of mysticism.

Since the series’ start, she’s had ongoing deep philosophical cell
conversations with an as-yet unseen guy.

The series closer has Jenny even questioning her own sanity, as she consults with a therapist (guest star Carrie Fisher).

Weber describes Side Order as "unabashedly romantic. There are no
explosions and the characters have a vulnerability that is uncommon in
television."

So, no more reason to speculate or argue. Whew.

Whoo-hoo!! I just read this over at TV Guide and I must say I am very, very excited!!! I had doubts that SW would actually play CPM even though it seemed quite obvious it was him doing the voice, so as I said, I'm very, very excited!!!

Whoo-hoo indeed!!

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Thank you!

He was really fantastic as Cell Phone Man! I'm glad they cast someone who "fit" =D

I liked it better when we didn't know who cell phone man. This was such a let down to me, Weber is 46, way too old to be playing the man of Jenny's dreams. I was upset when they said it might be Ian Zering but this is even worse. Totally ruined this great show for me, thank goodness we still have Vivy and Rick to watch.

up jenny is in her late 20's isnt she....and she knew he was older, we all knew he was older.....i think it was great.....i loved his voice as cell phone man!

reply

How did Jenny know he was older, I never heard him say anything about being older or Jenny referring to him as being older. I was really hoping it would be someone close to her age not some guy who has been around tv all these years. I mean Steven Weber did the young guy thing back on Wings. Anyway just my opinion and my right to say I was disappointed.

Jenny's 31 (and in reality Marisa is 33). JMO, but all along they had SW doing the voice of CPM which most fans knew and I know I would've been disappointed if they had cast someone else in the role (as much as I love Ian Ziering I was freaking out when I thought he might be CPM ... I was thinking, but he's not the voice ... Steven Weber is the voice!!).

Ironically, Ian is only a few years younger than SW (SW was born in '61 and IZ was born in '64 ... Marisa was born in '74).

Also, another thought ... a 15 year age difference (what I'm guessing the age difference is between James (using SW's actual age) and Jenny (using the fact that Vivy said in the finale that J was 31)) is not a big deal when you get to the age that J & J are on the show.

I think Jenny is in her early 30s - at least the actress who plays her. So maybe they would have Weber playing younger than his chronological age. He has that young, free-spirit thing goin' on!

Hi there, I missed the last episode also! Anyone know when they will be airing it again? The time was different so my retarded DVR didn't pick it up. When is the new season starting?

reply

i hate that i missed the final episode, as it turned out to be the final episode.
just as men were willing to give lifetime a chance. i'm going to curl up on my couch and watch monk reruns, while eating butter pecan ice cream. thank you, lifetime.
