at the end of this serial, they arrive at the stonehenge like place, with the force field around it... and Luke just walks right in and inserts the scroll!?!?

Why the heck didn't he just enter the force field and, wait for Sarah Jane... I mean he was completely safe inside the force field... instead he almost dooms the universe...
