Is it a kids' show?

I never saw this show. Is it really for kids or general sci-fi fans?

It's certainly designed for a younger audience... I'd say 7 to 15 year olds?

But there are some gems in there, seriously.

I'm 25 and I started watching it just because of Lis Sladen/Sarah Jane. I had no expectations but I have to say that it IS actually a pretty cool show with a couple of really good stories and ideas. Honestly, I think it's one of the greatest Kid/Teen shows ever created. When something works it's hard to pin an age on it. I still enjoy The Storyteller or Toy Story for example and those were made with a young audience in mind as well.

As long as you don't expect to ever really feel threatened it's pretty cool.

It's well written with solid characters and if nothing else, Lis Sladen will make sure you have a good time.

If you're a Doctor Who fan there's no reason NOT to watch it... pretty safe to say you'll enjoy it as a lot of DW baddies and characters make appearances from time to time, including The Doctor himself.

If you're expecting Battlestar Galactica - NO. Haha.

I personally think that the pilot episode of this show was pretty bad... but it quickly got better.

There are some episodes on youtube. 'The Eternity Trap' (Even has one or two genuine creepy moments in it) for instance is pretty good. 'Warriors of Kudlak' is also a good one. 'The Empty Planet'.

It's no problem to watch them in random order.

My problem with TSJA is that the acting is a often a little 'big' - lacking realistic delivery in what I think of as stage school style. Emotional reactions are overplayed to the detriment of the scene. It should have been played straight like regular Who but with the threat/terror aspects downplayed for a younger audience. Instead the acting was over-played at times and I think this was a mistake.

RIP Elizabeth Sladen - the fan's favourite.

My wife and I just started season 4 and are Doctor Who fans. It reminds me of a live action Scooby Doo show.
The bad guys, 'we would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for that dog and those meddling kids!'
