So they sailed all the way to north america..but..

..They intended to go to Jerusalem right? Given the fact that they arrived to north america in a matter of a few days, maybe a week or so, I assume they sailed from Greenland. Now, how the hell they expected to arrive to Jerusalem departing from Greenland in that little boat??

p.s: I apologize for my English.

reply

I reckon they were hoping for their God to will it.

reply

I'm thinking they either simply didn't know how truly far the Holy Land was from their Nordic home, or "sailing for the holy land" was shorthand for "finding a group of fellow Crusaders somewhere in continental Europe, and joining up with them."

"...and Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lotta ice, whenever he's away."

reply

See, it was like this. The writer and director were high as a barrage balloon so they could see Jerusalem from up there. Trouble was, they set off in the opposite direction. WTF!!

reply

With all the other supernatural elements, how they got to America was the least of my worries. Maybe the magic mist was really a wormhole?

reply

They sailed from Sutherland in the north of Scotland. They explicitly stated this.

reply

Oh, I must've missed that part.

reply

They're not in North America you *beep* moron. He's killed by Seal People. That's Scotland.

Jesus *beep* Christ do you people read or have educations or do you just jack off to Michael Bay films all day?

You're a waste of sperm.

reply

Ok, you must be trolling otherwise you're the stupidest person alive, I don't even know where to begin...
As someone else stated here, the sailed FROM Scotland not to Scotland and it's obvious, I mean OBVIOUS for anyone with a little logic, sense of geography and basic knowledge of history that they encountered Native Americans, and not as you say, an imaginary prehistoric Scottish tribe. Maybe you're that moronic that you actually confused this movie with "The Eagle" perhaps?

reply

Ha! What are Seal people? The made up Caledonian tribe in The Eagle?

Maybe before accusing everyone who made a certain plot interpretation of being Michael Bay fans (not sure how that follows) you should've checked the credits that refers to them as 'Indians' and the fact that the film is inspired by the mystery behind the Kensington Runstone, which is in Delaware (an American state).

And as the previous poster said, who sails from Scotland to Scotland and nearly dies of hunger and thirst? What is the dramatic purpose of such a trip?

reply

Decaf, like I replied to your other 12 year old type rant. Decaf.

One could travel from Scotland to the middle east quite easily by simple following the coast of Europe down through the Mediteranean, the method that many used to get there. These routes were well known at the time, and in fact it was a lot easier to get there by ship than by foot. The Vikings made many voyages of this scope in fairly small ships like this. If you need food and water you just put ashore and find some, and maybe do some pillaging on the side.

reply

"and maybe do some pillaging on the side."

Mostly trading actually.

Yes, Norse longships are very much linked to rape and pillage but the fact is most of the time they traded peacefully :)

I don't know how they made that trip from Scotland to the Americas when I don't recall them having any food or water to drink. That one guy dies from drinking salt water so they were obviously lacking it. I don't know how anyone could survive a trip like that. Maybe it was supernatural forces at play.

reply

It's assumed they would have had supplies but eventually ran out.
