St. Louis

This is being filmed in St. Louis! The greatest city in the world!

OH YES. THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

Yeah, I saw part of it being filmed across the street from where I live on Washington Ave downtown. Seems they also used Copia for a scene or two as well.

I remember at one point I had to close my blinds because all the lights used were a little distracting.

We used Copia and Mozaic for several scenes. Most of the movie takes place at night and we had a lot of complaints about the lights. Sorry about that.

It wasn't a problem for me, that's what blinds are for! It was kind of cool watching though. Almost a behind-the-scenes look at it all.

Not sure if you're from the STL area or not, but did you know that Copia burned down a couple months ago? I live right above it, we were all evacuated for a few hours in the freezing cold watching it go up in flames.

Matt,

Yes, I'm from St. Louis (still live here in fact) and I did hear that Copia burned down. It's a shame; I liked the place. I'd heard the damage was in the kitchen, for the most part, and they plan on reopening in Spring. Do you know if that's true?

I loved Copia. The bartenders were great and all the normal "Wash Ave I'm-better-than-you" crowd stayed away. Plus I didn't have to even go outside to go there. The food wasn't half bad either!

I live next door to the guy that runs the place (ET), and a couple of weeks ago he said they are still doing the whole insurance/contractor bidding thing. He's concentrating more on the 24 hour diner now (think: Steak n Shake or Denny's) at the corner of Tucker and Washington that's opening up later this year. I really wouldn't expect to see Copia opening up before summer though, unfortunately.

And yeah, most of the fire damage was in the kitchen, but there is a lot of smoke damage up front. Most of the salvagable things are being stored next door. I think there was something like $500,000 in wine and cigars that were destroyed.
