Why did he kill those two?

After that Baiano and his crew has killed Neto and noticed his BOPE tattoo, the voice-over states something like "The dealers demanded their justice. Baiano had warned them. Someone was going to pay for this." So why did he take, what was their names, Roberta and Rodriques? I only remember him warning them about their loyalties earlier, but not them doing anything that would make them targets.

Was it just to set a warning? I should watch the movie again, but if anyone knows for sure, I'd be grateful.

I hope my outrageous mistake will not be remembered too many years after my death, the shame of my family will probably be enough.

But at least it was an answer.

Nevermind that *beep* reply about your indeed "outrageous" mistake.

The reason why Baiano killed the young couple was to punish them for bringin "heat" into his territory, since he assumed that it was because of their Social Actions on the slum that the Bope Cop was attracted there to give the young boy his glasses.

Funny that, I know many a white Rodriguez. Because, you know, not all Hispanics are brown. Also, most Souzas and Fernandes I know are some shade or another of Mulatto, so the "Portuguese = White" equivalence might be a bit wrong.

Well, I guess most people in the USA would think "Hispanic" includes people of Portuguese origin. Basically, the criteria seems to be "speaks gibberish that vaguely resembles Spanish or has a Spanish/Portuguese sounding surname", even if the person is blue-eyed, blond and white as a Pole.

BTW, Hispanic is not a race but an ethnicity or whatever other *beep* euphemism they use for 'race' nowadays. Basically it's another label to tag you into a demographic to ease processing for marketing/government purposes. That's why I balked at your original comment that a person named Rodrigues with an 's' was supposed to be white, whereas a Rodriguez with 'z' would probably be 'brownish'.

The subtitles translation says something about how Baiano knew that if a BOPE was killed the rest of BOPE would come after him until they got him. He got scared. They then made the point that Baiano had said to never allow BOPE in the slums. They were mad about them letting a cop in, but BOPE was apparently unforgivable. So he killed them. Seems like he was allowing the social outreach group to operate under his control, but because they "brought" a BOPE to the neighborhood he wanted to send a message.
