The trailer looks good.

I havent seen the movie but if it is as good as the trailer I would probably enjoy it.

Since the directors here dont mind constructive criticism Ill just say this.

1. The lines of text were too long. Trailers need to get the idea across quickly. Movies aint novels, their nightmares.

2. Never Never Never have words appear that you cant read properly. NEVER EVER do that. Your first line - "started out just like any normal day" appeared at first as "arted out just like ..." It makes it confusing. The viewer then has to go back and re read it after it has fully appeared.

3. Its better to do it as narration then as a line of words. Movies, esp. horror, is an assault on the audience senses. Video and Audio work faster than words. I would suggest finding an out of work voice over guy/ex radio guy - plenty of the latter in retirement would appreciate their voice being wanted. Maybe just a bottle of scotch could seal the deal.

4. Dont narrate or have text that describe what the image is saying at the same time. Info overload. Its unnecessary. Have faith in the power in your images (which I thought were mostly pretty good). Since they look great by themselves, dont lessen them with words that a) are never going to be as powerful as the image and b) just reinforce what the image says anyway (which ultimately lessens the power of both - for info on this see gestalt theory/holisticism). As a professional, it cries "amateur being scared about the power of their images". Again, I thought your camera was mostly excellent. So have more faith in it.

So when you say "children played" and then showed it, it doesnt work as powerfully as it would if you just showed the images of kids playing. This can be worked even more powerfully especially following the announcement of the THREAT. This puts things into perspective quickly for the audience.

That was actually a trailer that was sent to the distributor by mistake, there is one marked "ULTIMATE" which is the more refined version of the trailer, but point taken on the criticisms. Although for Deadlands 2, I did sort of the same thing... simply because I am one that finds trailer narration annoying sometimes.

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for replying. That makes a lot of sense. The newer trailer is better. Congrats on your filmmaking. You are getting better and better !

Thanks... I keep trying... All In The Game, my newest, had an even lower budget and I feel is the best of the 3 I have made so far.... so I am thinking one more low budget film in another genre, then on to Deadlands 3.
