Does anybody know if and when this will come out in a limited release (U.S.)?

Where'd you see it columbiatch? Was it released here in NY? Thanks!

reply

In case you still had no opportunity to see the film: it's out on DVD, at least region 2, don't know if that's of any help, though, and didn't check for region 1.

reply

Okay, I am ignorant of the lingo... where are the regions, respectively?

reply

Region 2 is Europe, my DVD is Chinese with English and German subtitles. You're region 1, but you could play the DVD on a region-free DVD player (or check on the web how to make your player region-free).

I don't know if it's logical to expect that a region 2 DVD being out means that there is or soon will be a region 1, too, but could be.

The Region 1 DVD comes out later this year, from New Yorker video, and will include an interview with the director, plus his film Dong.

The R2 DVD, produced by the British Film Institute, will likely be much better; it will include Dong as well, and has an audio commentary by Asian film critic Tony Rayns.

I have to recommend the BFI R2, which was released today. The picture quality is brilliant, the Tony Rayns commentary is very informative, and there is a useful booklet of essays and stills included.
