Ocean 9?lol

Wow this movie is just like OCean 11 and 13 lol

reply

Except funnier, better made, better acted and with more heart. Trust me, this is the movie Ocean's 11 wanted to be -- and I don't even speak Spanish.

reply

Yeah... I think it's going to be way better than the Ocean's movies (A huevo!)!

reply

wow...thats a little much. it was ok but not nearly as good as oceans 11 or 12. the acting was a little too "telenovela" like and i thought the story was way to predictable.

reply

While I thought "Ocean's 11" was a pretty good movie (albeit an omnipresent form over substance) -- I felt "Ocean's 12" was nothing but a bunch of rich, pretty boys filming their fantastic lives while the rest of us schmucks just paid $10 to live vicariously. Too cool for school, if you get my drift.

"Ladron" is a more honest movie -- about people I might actually know and like.

The story IS predictable, but if it weren't everyone would leave the theater dissatisfied.

reply

Really dissatisfied? So if the audience walks out like "I didn't see that coming, hm.. I don't like it, if it was predictable I would have enjoyed it more."

But either way didn't like it.
I can't stand mexican actors. IMO. (I am mexican by the way)

I just saw the movie tonight, and I enjoyed it very much.Yes,it was predictible in spots, but you know what?80 percent of all the movies I enjoy are predictable. Its actually comforting in some genres, like romantic comedies and caper movies like this one.
As for the actors,my biggest feeling was "where have you been all my life?"These were all very good actors, with real screen prescence.I hope I get to see these actors a lot more often.
After watching the previews, and then this film,I got the feeling Hollywood is trying to niche market to the Hispanic audience. It kind of feels like what they did in the 70's with Blaxploitation films, trying to coop the independent Mexican cinema movement like they did with the Black film movement back then. But this was a very professional piece of work.

I agree with bimsie99. I enjoyed this movie a lot, and I preferred it to the "Ocean's 12" and "13." "Ocean's 11" was fine, but too self-important for a remake of the Sinatra/Rat-Pack original. I am not Mexican, nor Latina, but I have lived in South America for a while and I do know these actors. I have seen their work, and they were great on the big screen. The real point is -- An actor's nationality is rather irrelevant -- he/she is either good or not. All the comments here on Mexican this-and-that is ridiculous and somewhat ignorant, especially considering that some of these actors are NOT Mexican. Colunga is, but I believe Varoni is Colombian, etc. And, no, not all Latin countries and cultures are the same.

Saul is Argentine also. I worked one day on this movie and hope to rent it soon if netflix backlog ever sends it to me. All I know is this movie is hugely popular as it has been on the very long wait list for some time and it is obvious that netflix grossly underestimated the popularity of this picture. Mexicans dont make many feature films as we do, but are more in to soap opera type generas so when something finally comes out everyone wants to see it. Sure it was low budget, but they treated us pretty well and even offered us some cervesa in the back room :p. (Good thing I didnt drink one. I got a ticket on the way home :O) I was able to meet a few of the Mexican stars as we were all holding in the same room. Ill have to see if my part was significant enough to give myself and uncredited credit on imdb (at long last) as one of Saul's henchmen if I can ever get a hold of it. Maybe Ill just have to buy it.

reply

Yay! My scene made the cut! Now all I have to do is figure out how to add myself in. Hmm...

reply

I completely agree with you this movie had heart not like oceans 11

reply

I agree also -- this movie had heart. I want to seem more from this director, these actors!!

Oceans 11: the actors were having a party and didn't really care other than showing up and collecting their pay.
