Accents
Okay, I'm Argentinian so I guess I have more ear than most people on these boards to pick up stuff like this, but Saul Lisazo's Argentine accent was kind of weird. And he's Argentinian, so I was wondering what the hell was up with that?
I know he pretended to be Mexican but even the parts where he didn't pretend, he still spoke with a forced Mexican accent. Argentine people speak very fluidly, while his character spoke rigidly, much like Mexicans do.
Also, most of his lexicon was erratic. For instance, he always used the more traditional "eres" instead of "sos", which is what 99.5% of Argentine people use. This applies to lots of verbs, "buscalo" comes to mind; most Spanish speakers accentuate the first syllable in some conjugated verbs but not Argentinians. So in this case, instead of "búscalo," it should've been "buscálo." I know it's not the perfect example but still, you get the point.
Also, Julie Gonzalo's pretend Colombian/Mexican/whatever accent was horrible. They should have let her use her native Argentine accent.
Anyway, I loved the movie. Very entertaining. It wasn't a masterpiece but I don't think anyone ever expected it to be.
