The Money And Budget (*Contain Spoilers - Need Some Help)

I wanted to know something. Since it's in Spanish and the subs were too fast. I thought in the beginning they were talking of spitting it 50-50. But they gave it away to the customers! It's Emilio's grudge and why all the others were willing to help for free? Or only Emilio's part were given to the customers? What did Alejandro get and the others? I don't get it! And how did Emilio know Alejandro? What relations are they to each other?

And also I want to know the total budget for this film.

**** Spoilers ****

I just watched the movie. If it's still worth. The reason why Emilio asks for 50/50 means that he will keep 50% and the remaining 50% will be divided among the rest of the crew.

Emilio uses his 50% to give the money back to the people that was ripped by Moctezuma's useless artifacts.

I don't know about the budget, since it seems to be filmed (or at least set) in the US (LA), I'd think it turned out to be more expensive that if it was filmed somewhere else in South America, but the immigration abuse problem was a main part of the plot.

They never explained how the two characters knew each other.. didn't really cross my mind or seem like an important plot point... but it's a good question.

Yes, you are right. Emilio wanted to split the $$ 50/50, giving 50% to the people who helped him and the other 50% back to people who were majorly ripped off. He obviously could not give money back to every one who bought a product for several reasons:

1. Judging by his lifestyle, the dude obviously spent quite a bit of it
2. The cost of returning the money to every single person would be substantial.

So even if he kept 100%, he still wouldn't be able to refund every one (he also wouldn't be able to find people willing to risk helping him for free).

Judging by the amounts Emilio read off at the end of the film, (all in the thousands) it appears that he only returned the money to the big-ticket consumers..
