I thought it was great
It didn't have the punchiest script or the most able directing, but that's kind of what I liked about it. It seemed more realistic than most of the ultra-polished Hollywood dreck. Even Hollywood's movies about the same subject matter (Old sad person meets young troubled-but-energetic person, i.e. My First Mister and Lost in Translation- both good movies) could take a lesson in actuality from the makers of this film.
Ratzenberger was subtle but effective and the Cole gal has a bright future.
All in all, I'd say it's a worthwhile couple of hours on a lazy afternoon. Not really appointment viewing, but if it comes on cable (as it seems to have done a lot lately), I suggest you watch it.
