Considering 9 Years After the Original, This Movie Better Be Funny

If this movie is really going to be released in 2010, it better be really funny. You would think that 9 years after the original was released they could come up with pretty funny material.

You make it sound as though Jay and the others haven't been doing anything for the last nine years... They have made other movies you know. I'm pretty sure that whatever they come up with (9 years in the making, or not) is going to be pretty damn funny.

reply

Wow it really will have been 9 years......I feel old all of a sudden. Anyone else?

reply

Has it really been 9 *beep* where does the time go ?????

reply

Holy *beep* I wish they weren't making Super troopers 2 but POT FEST. I feeling it!

reply

potfest was a joke.... they nevr actually planned on making it, it was just something funny they put after beerfest to make meeting willie nelson more humorous

engineering degrees??

Yeah its not like there were sitting in a room spending the entire 9 years trying to come up with material for this movie. They have been busy with other stuff. But if your a fan of the first one than you should appreciate this one and accept it for what it is no matter what. Also, I was looking for to potfest too, I wonder when there gonna make that movie.

I think what SoonerFan80 was refering to was the fact that the sequel is coming so late after the original. Regardless of what they've been doing in the meantime, it could be tough to recapture what made the original so good. A lot of sequels made so long after the originals suffer from increased expectations and lowered creativity, so to speak. Cases in point: Indiana Jones, The X-Files, The Star Wars Prequels.

I have faith in this movie. Nine years is usually kind of pushing it for a sequel, though; there's a certain time period when it's best to make a sequel. Too early and it seems like it's just milking the cash cow. Too late, and it seems like the same thing. I think, since it still has the exact same people writing, directing, acting in, and producing the sequel as the first one did, it has a much better chance of being funny.

Made you look!

shutup, oklahoma *beep* broken lizard has never made an 'unfunny' movie.

you doubt them?..after 4 of the best comedy movies of this generation (Dukes of Hazzard was whack)...i've trusted in them more often then that jackass of a prez we've had 4 the past 8 years

reply

Yes, and I can see how the two are related.

reply

I don't think Super Troopers needs a sequel - Doesn't really lend itself to one, but I for one will be watching it anyway.

But 9 years, phew, at least it's not become some stupid franchise like American Pie.
I think it will be entertaining, but I don't think it will compare to the original.

PS. Jesus... 9 years already?! That's almost 1/3 of my whole bloody life! LMAO!

10 yrs! guys, 10 yrs! I was only 16 when the first one came out? sure doesn't seem like its been that long.

reply

I concur.... I was almost 18 when the first one came out, will be almost 28 by the time its released in 2011. Crazy stuff!

reply

I'll be 23, haha. I can't even remember watching this for the first time, but I sure am glad I have it on DVD. I've enjoyed Club Dread, Beerfest was alright, and Pot Fest would be funny. Either way, I just hope this is good; this will be the first movie from this particular group, that I'll see in theaters, so that makes me happy.

snazzberrys taste like snauzzberries! DO YOU BOYS LIKE MEXICO???? YEEEEEEEEEEEHAW!!!!!

... it better be funny ... or what?

i'm sure they're speeding up production after that burst of internet courage ...

and it sure as hell has a better chance at being funny after nine years than after six weeks in which most scripts for sequels are turned around ...

and to second a point already made, it's not like broken lizard has been sitting around doing nothing ... maybe they have some standards and think just because you make on funny movie on a subject it doesn't mean another movie on the same subject is going to be funny ...

so calm down jag
