this movie was really good... then it just ended

I enjoyed the movie right from the beginning, there were lots of funny lines, attention to detail, interesting characters. I enjoyed it even more than I was expecting to. Then it ended all of a sudden. Everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow during the last 2 minutes and that was it. It was a totally unsatisfying ending even though everything worked out and everyone was happy. I think the writer was really onto something then either got lazy and couldn't think of a better ending or had to finish on a deadline and just tied up all the loose ends without much thought to the rest of the film. Did anyone feel the same way? I enjoyed 90% of the film, the last 10% left me disappointed.

I agree, in part. I was not as much disappointed in the how it ended, as much as it ended abrupty. I was wanting to see more of the transition in their lives explored in those final few minutes. I liked the upswing at the end. I just wanted more.

I was so totally like that
& then I wasn't
because it was like so good in the rest
but then I was like I wonder if there's like a book
My main problem though
a side from the ending
was that I could not identify with just one
they all seemed 2 B part of me
very intimate

I was so moved

I was giving it a 8/10 for the first half, then 7/10 for the second half, but the ending dropped it to a 6/10. In the real world, statiscally speaking, if they were truly, "extremely smart" people, Vanessa would not have been a Republican, and Janet would have had an abortion.

We all know a unhappy stupid person, an unhappy drunk, an unhappy wife-beater, an unhappy child molester, there are plenty of unhappy stupid people. This kind of characterisation was a little less than... smart.

The heads of the Republican Party should be really smart people, in fact they should be in order to control the bunch of puppets they have. I think she was after a big goal, being a 2nd Condoleeza Rice, intelligent, but unscrupulous. And Janet could have aborted, but I think she was so tired of her own life that she decided to have the baby just to spice her life.

Most of the times endings are not rushed, the writer has several endings witch they get to pick from. They hardly ever write a story with just one ending. The movie more than likely ended the way they wanted. I happened to find it satisfying, but will say I tend to like cheesy endings that fits a movie.
