Worst....Deputy...EVE R!

Even setting aside his terrible acting, this character was the worst law enforcement officer in the history of film. The small town is looking for a killer and a missing girl, the deputy's off in the woods making out with his girlfriend when the town weirdo Ed Gein drives by him, stops and stares, and drives off WITH A BLOODY CORPSE DRAGGING BEHIND HIS TRUCK, and Deputy Clueless doesn't even raise an eyebrow.

Oh, and when he's investigating the crime scene of the missing waitress, the guy not only brings his girlfriend to the crime scene, but makes out with her there.

And this is more a general indictment of the town's police department as a whole, but how come once the women started disappearing (in broad daylight, no less), NOBODY suspected the crazy-eyed loner who was constantly yelling out to his dead Mamma? Shouldn't he have been, like the first guy questioned?

After his mother had already been abducted, Deputy Moron manages to roll his car over and deliver a crippled female right to the feet of Ed Gein. Talk about an early Christmas present for Ed - this idiot already halfway killed the girl and delivered her to him!

Oh, and in the end scene, the Deputy comes across the psycho killer who's mutilated a bunch of women and has gun pointed at his girlfriend. He's hiding behind a tree with his gun drawn. Do you...

A) Fight the much larger killer, risk being overpowered and killed, try knock the gun out of his hands, wait until there's several witnesses, and threaten to execute him in cold blood?

B) Safely, and justifiably, shoot the killer in the head while staying behind the tree, thus guarenteeing your girlfriend's safety and your own?

This movie was like the Road House of horror movies - you know it sucks as a movie, but it's just SO bad, it actually becomes good.

This totally needs the MST3K treatment.

Next time you see me, it won't be me

I couldn't get over the fact that Terri Alden from Three's Company was his mother!

I also found it laughable that he couldn't figure out how to work a radio.

If you expect the unexpected doesn't the unexpected then become the expected?

I agree with everything you all said, thus cannot add anything except it seemed funny him getting away with using county/town property (cop car) for "personal" reasons whether she was the sheriff's daughter or not.
