nice movie... NOT

looks sh*thouse to me ^_^

Have you actually seen it? It's not as bad as you'd think. Sure the plot is a bit generic, but the art direction and acting isn't all that bad. Some classic fantasy dialogue, in all it's cheesyness, in it as well.

reply

Have YOU actually seen ist? I honestly doubt because you use words like "art direction" and "acting" in the same sentence as this ...

He's a shill working for The Ayslum. 99% of the positive comments on this board are just idiots paid by The Asylum to plug the movie anywhere they can, under the guise of "typical viewer who rented it from the video store." etc. Pretty sad really.

The Asylum is beyond pathetic.

I just love how people predisposed to hate the Asylum are automatically more credible than those that are either neutral and hate the films or neutral and love the films.

I've said it once, I will say it again. The Asylum does not pay anyone, nor is it our policy to put fake "plants" on message boards. Those of us that do participate in these types of forums do so with our own names. You guys are going to have to accept this, but there are people out there who enjoy Asylum movies. In fact, as I cruise these boards, I count more fans than haters, with the fans growing in number with each and every film.

I just saw Eragon myself last night. If you guys want to direct hate and anger towards poor filmmaking, why not direct it at those who have 1,000 times the budget and years to make films that insult the audience's intelligence than us little guys who are just trying to have fun, practice our craft and make a buck?

reply

wel leigh i am certainly glad you enjoyed making this waste of a disc cuz the only fun i had watching it was laughing how bad it was. if you want to make a medievil type fantasy movie with tons of swordplay and such the least you can do is give the actors a lesson or 2 on how to handle them. (a couple acting lessons wouldn't hurt either). another idea is get some writers with IMAGINATION instead of taking lines from any dragonlance, lotr or video game and doing the ole cut and paste into the script. i had high expectations when i put this movie in (an interesting story that is right up my alley) and you destroyed it.

btw i could care less if it was asylum or mgm who made it. a bad movie is a bad movie no matter who put it out.

Thanks for your opinion.

Thanks man.

I never knew movies could be this bad. Makes me want to watch Catwoman or Battlefield Earth instead.

*cough* BS! *cough* and you know it Leigh. Everyone please take a look at some of the "unbiased reviews" from this clown on Amazon and tell me he's anything but a worthless plant:

Again, I hate repeating myself, especially to the same haters. But the guy you pointed to is not an employee or a plant. His name is Chris Mackey. He is in our rotation of press screeners just like numerous other sites.

And perhaps YOU are the plant. Rival company? PA on a set who never got paid? Spurned lover? Or perhaps an agent of Beezelbub himself...

reply

Haha... Beezelbub. It's actually Beelzebub, but you were close enough.

I actually only got to watch about the first 15 minutes of this movie with my parents.

I will say this for Asylum, at least you've got plenty of gore. I saw more gore in two trailers (which I didn't even get to fully watch, as I was watching them with my parents) than I saw in Saw I and II, and the bits I've seen of Hostel.

This Dragon movie seemed alright, but like I said, I didn't get to watch it.

It's too bad you don't go around paying people to go on websites and increase positive feedback on your films. That'd be a nice job. Lol.

Annnyway. I can't give fair judgement either way.

From what I saw, it was okay. Yes, I've seen better acting, but I've also seen worse. (See the movie Prison of the Dead, if you want to know what I mean.)

In my opinion, there's no point in arguing over movies. Both people will just talk until they're blue in the face, or in this case type until they're blue in the fingers, and nothing will have been solved. You'll go on hating each other, and you'll each go on with your own opinions.

That's the beauty of them. Everyone is entitled to their own. :)

It was me! I was the turkey all along!

reply

I have not seen the movie yet, but i'm a fantasy fan so I'll guess i will enjoy
it. I don't expect it to be great like a big budget movie, but I really like there is produced this type of movies. Please keep going !

reply

"For a guy that hates Asylum so much, you sure do spend a lot of time here."

Oh, do I now? That's odd considering I've made a grand total of 3 posts(including this one) to this board.

BTW, I happen to have e-mail notification on, so whenever one of you so called "artists" at The Asylum replies to one of my posts, I can reply with one of my own with a one simple mouse click in the e-mail.

Hey Leigh cool that you look .Not a bad movie much better than the typical Aslym movies.Cudos to you. Can't wait to see the other movies.I'll rent Erigon it looks bad.Your Dragon looked better than most(I thought it was stop motion)

I actually like Asylum films ,... I like the fact that they use there Actors over again playing different roles, it makes it fun to watch them do different things.

I really thought Eliza Swenson did an outstanding job! I think I have seen all her films at Asylum, this has to be her best! Not to mention she did the music as well kudos to you Miss Swenson. I also think the Dragon was fantastic. CGI better than king of the lost world !!!Thank you!

Saw Eragon myself last night and it had everything this movie lacked.
An interesting story, ok acting and beautiful scenes. Not a perfect movie but at least I enjoyed watching it.
What I lacked in Dragon was a little more story as the current one was pretty dull, and you never really got to see the end of the original quest they set out to do. The dragon part seems to be nothing more than a minor subplot.
The was some nice scenes with mountains and such, but once you go back to the heroes it seems to be filmed in some local forrest and not anywhere near those mountains.
The dark elves looked pretty lame.
Matthew Wolf was the only decent actor, the rest was pretty bad expecially Jon-Paul Gates was annoying to watch try act.
Can imagine children or hardcore fantasy fans might enjoy Dragon thought and if that is the target audience of this movie I guess its ok.
Also cool that people behind the movie actually posts here.

well couse i am fantasy junkee i liked this flick, but mainly because of that:))needs more work:) not a very good directing needs some better camera works(playing with the lights - you need too make a better atmosphere)poor acting, none of the story, costumes were poorly made imho.. but well i say continue Leigh improve your work and i think we fantasy fans need more of films like that
what i realy hope is for your improvment and more fo this kind of flicks:)

I like pretty much all of The Asylums Films, whether they are bad or actually good. Theres nothing wrong with a little cheese in your films. And Taking 500,000 dollars and making a fantasy film is one tall task.

Get to da Choppa!

Billy, Get me outa dis Hole!

reply

I hadn't even heard of The Asylum before watching this movie so I have no idea what you're talking about. And I'm not saying it's a perfect movie, all I'm saying is I enjoyed it for what it was. A cheesy fantasy movie.

reply

I think people rent Asylum films just to log on to these message boards and talk about how bad they are. I mean if you buy/rent one of these movies by now expecting a oscar-worthy performance your just an idiot. And I'm not saying this film is great by any means but I did enjoy it for what it was, a low-budget cheesy fanatasy movie.

Ramones, the best band ever.

reply

take some hard drugs before watching this :-)

reply

Any thing was Jon Paul Gates/Jon Morry/Nob Jockey or what ever else he calls himself in has to be sh*te of the highest - remember Eldorado!! Can't believe after 15 years you are still trying to act - use your HND in Business Studies and get yourself down to McDonalds!!!!!

Wasn't a great movie, though even so I didn't turn it off, so it mustn't of been too terrible. Admittedly, the acting in lot's of places were a little off, and the sword play was good for a few laughs... Especially that decapatation, was that a balloon?

Anyway, good to see your making movies for fun & practice. Wasn't really any worse then most other B-Grade movies, & was nice to see a fantasy flick.

Don't worry about the others, it's *alot* easier to criticise then to try & help.

Cheers.

reply

I'll have to agree with you on this. Worst choice for a rental yet. Fifteen minutes in and now it's time to just turn this crap off and get some sleep before taking it back.

From what I have seen in here, I'll have to look to see who makes the films I grab when I rent any movie. If it's Asylum, back it shall go. Don't give up your day job, Leigh Scott.

reply

I am watching, or I should say it is on, now and I can't get into it. It is crap and it deserves every bit of of the 2/10 I give it.

reply

I was looking forward to watching this movie because it looked quite impressive in the trailer especially the dramatic landscapes shots and the music is awesome for a cheap movie, Much respect must be given for the opening 10 minutes or so with a castle siege , a dramatic narration and a pretty good looking dragon, then it began to fall apart , because it looks like a group of people walking through your local park, i really feel with a little set dressing this could have been a good film because the dialogue although cheesy is very in keeping with the film and the lead actress was very good, much credit must go to eliza swenson ( spelling?) because she gives the best performance and did the score, which according to the director was knocked out in a couple of weeks, so very well done, i hope leigh scott the director shoots the film better next time so the stock footage and actual footage match because it took me out of the film, i am looking forward to the next two installments though, this is the best asylum film so far, keep up the effort and ognore all the haters.

reply

I think some of you lead sheltered lives, because this was not remotely the worst movie ever made and it's not even close. It's far better than most of the stuff that has appeared on Sci-Fi Saturdays or been torn apart on MST3K. Sure, it has some problems (the most jarring for me was the sound of an airplane flying overhead in one scene).

Of course, I may have been more tolerant because it was a $1 DVD from Wal-Mart :)
