The reason compared to 'Reign of Fire'

Its just as bad.
Most people I know that went to see "Reign of Fire" (ie. people that love dragon movies) walked out half way. There is barely enough action in "Dragon" to make the comparison to the other movie in any case.
"Dragon" has poor acting, poor story, and looks like a LARP campaign put together in a few minutes before a camera. The dragon wasn't too bad if a little on the 1980's side of CGI (making it look like a big rubber suit), and the actress playing Freya at least had tried to look and play the part.
In the commentaries the actors mention this being a low-budget film - They were correct! Really low budget! About the only good bit is the music! They didn't even get the pronunciations of Celtic/Gaelic words right!

I'm happy I rented this first...

I actually thought the lead barbarian character was pretty cool also. And the Music was pretty sweet. The girl who played the Necro did the music as well.

Maybe they didn't get the pronunciations right because 'Freyja', 'Vanir' and 'Elf' are Germanic?

Good grief, this movie was so much worse than "Reign of Fire". Everything about "Dragon" was just so awful. I didn't even like the music.

I agree. Reign of fire was marketed wrong which resulted in it getting very poor reviews. They promised a different story than what they gave. I however liked it.

Dragon, on the other hand, about the only good thing I can say - is that it DID finally end. The lead lady was absolutely atrocious. She can't even give a heartfelt scream. How hard is it to scream??? The dialogue was all mumbled and rambled on and on and on. There was no actual point or story to follow. From the beginning it didn't make any sense. Except to say the "princess" was probably annoying the people so much that they sent her away to die. This story was a bad 15 minute skit stretched beyond it's limits. The dark elves were more like muddy guys in really ratty bad wigs. The "princess" changes her clothes BUT LEAVES HER EXPENSIVE JEWELRY ON! Then makes absolutely no attempt to hide who she is from anyone. So why bother?

Not to mention the voice over at the beginning and end. Lady - I got news for you - you are NOT Cate Blanchett and you will NEVER BE Cate Blanchett. Seriously, the narration made me actually wince it was so very, very , very badly done.

Cut the dialogue to about a third of what it was. Pare down the scenes. Get someone with a bit more costuming experience. And last, but most definitely more importantly, re-cast the "princess" role.

Gah! I hated how they pronounced "Sidhe"! It sounded more like "scythe" than "she" the way they were saying it. Checking the pronunciation of words wouldn't have taken that long, though I'll concede that it would've taken precious time from their acting classes. :|
