Is this as gory as the first?

and are the gore effects mainly practical like the first?

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

They appear to be mostly practical. This movie has a low budget. Just a fair warning the sound mix for the dialogue is horrible. I watched the Rated version and it tended to cut away from the gore.

The unrated version has its good share of gore. Possibly a little more than the first.

Yes, I'd say it's even gorier. Especially the scene where the woman is sawed in half.

On the same level some are obviously CGI. The main problem is that the kills feel uninspired and boring unlike the ones from the first and the original from Lewis. Nice however that they put in the barrel roll again.
Personally I think it is a movie to avoid.
